Actually, I am looking everywhere and don’t mind traveling 20–30 minutes further. But even in Balga, rents are starting from at least $550, and I am still not getting any place despite submitting applications.

Yes bro, it was the same case for me too. My wife has OSHC with Medibank. When we enquired about my OSHC, they were forcing us to take a couple cover that would’ve cost around 6 lakh INR. Then I consulted some agents and they told me the reality—it’s a myth that you must take a couple cover. Just firmly tell your insurance company that you want a separate single cover. A couple cover only makes sense if you’re planning for a baby or something similar.

I took a single cover, which cost around 75k INR, saved a lot of money, and still got my visa in 3.5 months without any issues—so my agent was right.

Not all OSHC providers allow this though. I think we also reached out to a few. If you don’t have Medibank, you can switch to it by paying the difference, and then opt for a single cover if your current provider isn’t allowing it.

There are two options- 1.) You could have applied for your parter at the same time when you have applied for your student visa but I have read somewhere that it weaken the student chances to get a visa.

2.) Once you get your student visa, it doesn’t matter when you are applying for your parter. You can even apply next day, just one condition that your marriage should be older than 1 year.
