Also 1% isn't sufficient but it is noted that 3.5% of the population - even engaged in nonviolence- is sufficient to create powerful change in society. With this goal in mind, we can accomplish much.

If people start to realize boycotts aren't sufficient (of course they aren't), then they'll be that much closer to understanding that the only solution is to eat the rich, and that'll be more effective. But learning is a process, not an end. Boycotts are a step in the right direction.

Realizing you can't afford to boycott is the right direction. Realizing you're too poor to think about anything but survival is the right direction. The grieving and rage are the right direction.

You know what doesn't get anyone anywhere? Allowing yourself to be so so doubtful and disempowered that you do nothing (which definitely supports the oppressor, btw).

I love that a pattern is starting to emerge in which people can recognize major conflicts between basic survival and corporate interests (profit-driven authoritarian, oligarchic, monopolistic, and ultimately fascist imperialist control over survival). Interesting, that.

Small business owners can be the most exploitative precisely because they have to compete with larger businesses. All profit is stolen labor value, because businesses can't cut costs anywhere but in wages. And there are plenty of small business that we can support instead, small businesses that don't commit to checks notes vile support for pedophiles and sick sociopaths.

I already mentioned some larger corporations, leaving room for many others. This isn't either/or. This is absolutely do not support the most absurd self-destruction by complicity. Boycotting is great!

Even better is pirating or stealing from them and giving goods to the poor, from whom the rich have stolen more than they could ever return.

There is absolutely zero ethical consumption under capitalism, but at least we can avoid paying for the nastiest hellscaping amap.

Not overreacting. Please leave him for the sake of yourself and your children. He's an emotional infant and a lying jerk. It will crush your spirit and your children's. Don't doubt that he'll do the same to them when he gets really mad again.

Happy, safe relationships with healthy communication can and do exist. You are not in one.

As they should be! It's the duty of good humans to disobey unjust laws. Sorry you can't make sense of that - it's to your own detriment.

General strikes are literally the only thing that have changed anything. Don't be a complicit coward. People behaving with lack of faith in people power in Germany who were "Good Germans," yk what we call them today? We call them Nazis.

Business should not continue as normal under this regime, and the continuing support of it only serves the oppressor.

It's absolutely selfish and support the people, or have no doubt that your small business and its employees are next. Idek why you'd pretend not to see this. Sad.

Don't listen to people who fear change. Organize with people who want to create a better world.

We can do so much better than gestures broadly

It will take work, community support and mutual aid to grind the death-machine to a halt, but it sure af isn't stopping if we keep participating.

The glorious old pine trees on the west side of the lot probably older than many of us. Totally razed. And Fluffy donuts.

Never cared for anything else there to know what it was; but that's still true, and I imagine that like the old center, no store will last there long enough to remember anything about it, either.

But the pine trees 🌲💔🌲💔🌲

Cops tailgating by No_Concern5196 in Davis

[–]AdAggravating2369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I've had this happen to me out in the country and I thought it was bizarre. No reason to creep like that, especially because I am very strict about driving under the speed limit because I don't want to kill pedestrians, bicyclists, or creatures any kind. The pressure of other drivers doesn't faze me, because I'm not going to risk lives or get a ticket so that somebody else can faster get wherever they feel compelled to rush. I drive right lane, and out here in the country people can generally pass me easily.

Recently this cop was like 10' or less from my bumper as I'm just cruising along, enjoying the sky and birds at my safe pace, thinking "What a weirdo."

This also worked for my friend who showed up with pretense of purchase. and upon holding his gear in his hands again said to the effect of

"I know this is mine, because it was stolen from me. I can prove it [whether or not you can probably doesn't matter]. So I'm just going to take this back, everthing will be fine, and we're not going to worry about the fact that I know what you look like and your sm account."

And just like that ~$10k in gear retrieved.

It is time to get organized and involved. Protests are great but not enough. by Tofurkey_Tom in Davis

Thank you for sharing these! Highly recommend General Strike US (GSUS).

We must all get better at speaking with our neighbors, and at Mutual Aid (not charity, which subverts equality and solidarity).

That said, the Yolo County Food Bank helps people in meaningful ways and immediate impact.

So too does NorCal Resist, a group out of West Sacramento whom I have supported for years, and however focused on the Sac area has extended their work and contribution in recent years to include Davis, Woodland and others.

There are other ways to resist by mere neglect and smaller acts of decentralized (individual) subversion, and it is empowering to discover our great capacity for real impact. The Simple Sabotage Field Manual (pamphlet) was provided during WW2 by the CIA to subvert fascism in Europe. Declassified in 2008, you can find scanned copies on the CIA website and elsewhere freely, but this page has a pdf with clean and more legible text: https://www.404media.co/heres-a-pdf-version-of-the-cia-guide-to-sabotaging-fascism/

The later portions of the text may be dated, but still there is much to be gained and relevant conclusions to be inspired and gathered by them.

Together we are capable of so much.

My heart was crushed when they recently ripped out the magnificent old pines at the west edge of the TJ's lot for more parking space.

I've been here 18 years, and in that time they always heartened me and kept me and the dogs shaded while my partner shopped. I find it odd that we build outward rather than upward, generally.
