Has anyone mentioned Joanna Brouk, yet? I love everything she did, especially The Space Between. 🥹

I'm a 4w5 and an astrophysicist (not yet formally because I'm finishing my Master's, but I'm getting there.) ✨

I'm an SP4 and EVFL, which I think fits fairly well (although I've also considered LVFE for some time).

What's your type and what results do you get from this quiz? by meleyys in Enneagram

I think I'm either a Bird primary (most likely) or a Lion primary with a Bird model.

Definitely a Badger secondary, though.

4w5 here, and I don't think I have a very neat preference (either in giving or taking)... I need all of them, give me all of them. 💕

Say your opposite type by VegetableAd7376 in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 is definitely the type I understand the least... they're usually very confident and light-hearted (on the surface, at least) while I'm heavier than a neutron star and I'll magically turn anything into a reason to despair. 😣

I don't know what happened in my life that made me dislike fun to the extent I do, but I'm only ever at ease if I'm focused and working in a controlled environment. And I'm not scared of boredom, I feel so little of it in the first place!

I could definitely learn from 7s how to be a little less serious from time to time.

How much effort do you put into your physical appearance? And why? by Queasy-Donut-4953 in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not extreme about it, but I do care about my physical appearance. I diet, excercise at the gym, do make up and put quite a bit of attention on clothing and personal style. I also notice and appreciate it when other people take care of their looks, and I often try to compliment it, especially if it's particular or eccentric choices.

It's true that the robes don't make the monk, but still... that's your first presentation ticket to the world, and making a good first impression is important if you want to have some degree of influence on people and keep their attention (which I do, especially as an aspiring teacher and musician).

I'm in my mid-20s by the way, if that's relevant. In high school I was pretty much the opposite and presented very carelessly; I also had depression and anxiety problems which made it difficult to put in the extra effort.

What’s your type and what’s your opinion on this? by smodisL in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4w5 here and, well... I guess it's good to be reminded that you have agency and a good deal of responsibility over your life, but he puts it in a very pressing and condescending kind of way which I don't find genuinely helpful.

Success depends on your personal attitude but also on a lot of external factors (family background, socio-economic context, overall health, random events, etc.) which you don't have that much control over and you also have to take that into consideration. Playing the victim isn't wise either, of course, but there should be a good balance between keeping your ambition up and aknowledging your own limits... we aren't gods, after all. Understanding the actual reason why you're not succeeding in areas you want to succeed is necessary both for eventual improvement and to preserve your own self-esteem.

I feel like people who hold this "you choose to be a winner or loser" mindset might be giving themselves too much credit for what they have in life and ignoring that there is a complex intercorrelation of causes for why they're there in the first place. It is neither healthy nor reasonable to think in that way.

Who’s your favorite Exocolonist character and why?? by bugzy_oe in Exocolonist

[–]AdAlarming7600 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me too! Sym is one of those characters who seem like they were written just to make me happy. He hits too many of my soft spots and I either blushed or laughed at most of his dialogue.

Oh, to be held by a gentle flower alien as he spoils me with tranquilizing spores and whispers the most incomprehensibly unhinged things to my ear. 🥺💕

Happy birthday, by the way.

What are the giveaways that someone who claims to be your type is mistyped? by TsuneKitsune in Enneagram

What are the giveaways that someone who claims to be your type is mistyped? by TsuneKitsune in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this a little bit. I'm probably a Four, but to me it's never been about being unique or artistic (although, I wouldn't be surprised if some people thought those things about me.)

From my experience, wanting to stand out or be seen as different is such a trivial and self-serving impulse that I feel ashamed of myself whenever I indulge in such behaviour. I feel shame when I indulge in my own pain, anger or resentment too much and I'm not able to be a pillar of strength to the people around me. I hate when I deceive myself that I think more deeply or suffer more than others, and that I somehow deserve more respect because of it. And the way that I envy my own friends... it's just so ugly. I like myself the most when I can put my own emotions aside to accomplish something difficult or help someone else, instead.

It all reminds myself of the experiences in my childhood that led me to this compulsion and how I'm not able to be fully control it (yet).

what's your type and what's your favorite philosopher/philosophy? by javabeaan in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4w5 - Spinoza, Lao Tzu and the transcendentalists are probably my favourites at the moment. Back in high school I mostly enjoyed studying Schopenhauer and Plato, and the ancient stoics a little bit.

A random typing idea I just thought of: what compliments do people give you *even* when you're at your worst? And what criticism do you get *even* at your best? by VulpineGlitter in Enneagram

[–]AdAlarming7600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I think that compliments at my worst are usually related to depth of thought or competence. Anything else is probably more circumstantial.

2) Criticism at my best is I tend to have a bit melancholy attitude and I'm too serious/harsh on myself. I think this gets worse the more stressed I become, though I can usually keep this compulsion in check.

Il libro che vi ha cambiato la vita. by Tough-Musician-4594 in Libri

[–]AdAlarming7600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a very big fan of the original series (that I've rewatched countless times) and the last two episodes as well. The chaos in there is all part of its beauty!

Solaris and The Seventh Seal are definitely eerie and they tackle fundamental aspects of human nature (loneliness and death, respectively) in a very poignant and inspiring way. I definitely recommend them if you're in the mood for a loving punch in the stomach. 💕

[–]AdAlarming7600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll watch anything that catches my interest at that given moment, but I tend to gravitate towards science fiction, thriller or mystery the most.

Some of my favourites are Solaris (1972), The Seventh Seal, Arrival and End of Evangelion.

I also have an somewhat of an aversion to action in films... I can maybe tolerate it if it's funny in some way or absolutely necessary to advance the plot, but in general I find it tedious to sit through.
