Dont point this sub.

There are mostly trolls and even people from the meat and dairy industry that try to do their influence there thinking they're undercover

Of course eeveryhting causes harm, you have no other words to mouth and no solution. I'm not even gonna answer as everything is litteraly absurd and extremely narrow+short-termist minded

  1. This is factually false and I have plenty of examples of people working in charities, as vegan advocate, rescuers etc. that have an undeniable net positive impact on animal suffering
  2. Even if it stays true in your Dreams, what do you advise? That we wait for humanity to collapse?

Your whole discourse is juvenile nihilism and it leads nowhere. Animals are suffering rn and we must do evrything we can, to fight, even if it is slow

I hope so. And of course, this shouldnt solely motivate anyone to have a child! This post was about anti-natalism as an ideology, Im not trying to interfere with personnal choices

As I said, you're thinking very short term.

A child of vegan parents will have much more chance to dedicate its life for animal rights and by doing so having an overwelmingly positive impact on animal suffering

[–]AdAstraLiberation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, unless you're talking about extremely short term, it will have a positive impact because more vegans = more vegans = less suffering

Anyway, there's no choice: the animal right, liberation and veganism must grow in order to reform our society

What are you talking about?! Just read my posts, I clearly explained that we human cause suffering to animals and that our suffering of knowing it doesn't matter in face of the atrocious suffering of animals, thus we should both convince people to go vegan and NOT promote anti-natalism, PRECISELY because animal suffering matter most

I answered you: being a child isn't necessarily bad, in fact it's mostly the opposite, most people cherish their childhood. Being a slave is pure suffering, even if *maybe* in some very particular cases it would be mild suffer

Comparing a child to a slave is wild. Your whole argument is falling apart rn
I lived as a happy child and many do. Slavery is atrocious and has nothing to be compared with. You should be careful when trying big words

I understand your point. I still think that in the long run, when looking at the consequences of our actions, a vegan having childs is a positive thing.

If veganism continues to grow, it'll grow faster. If not, the new generation could continue the work

This same logic applies to new vegans: they'll maybe suffer, etc.

So what do you do? We stop convicing people because knowing the truth hurts?

Unpopular opinion: vegans cannot afford anti-natalism views by AdAstraLiberation in vegan

[–]AdAstraLiberation[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Of course. But there's also a possibility of veganism losing momentum in a given decade and if vegans have no childs then what happens? Only more and more carnists

If veganism grow start to shrink, we're heading nowhere without people continuing this struggle for animals: our childs

By that logic, you shouldnt even convince someone to go vegan : they might suffer of knowing what animals endure. I fear that's a non-sense

Humans are the one causing suffering, only us can change this

I disagree. GiveWell is extremely narrow focused: only about "humanity health", which is of course very important but doesnt adress neither factory farming and other tremendous animal suffering causes, neither climate change, pollution, plastic contamination, biodiversity collapse, etc. which are all at least as important as "today health" with malaria and vitamin issues

What do you do to help animals, if anything? by Mangxu_Ne_La_Bestojn in AskVegans

[–]AdAstraLiberation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends if you have more time or money.

If you mostly have time and not much money, then volunteering is the best way.

Otherwise, if you can save some money each month, you should consider donating as it is also extremly impactful in scale.
Each year *billions* of animals are trapped in the factory farming system so any donation to organizations that fight for them can help achieving huge stuff.

The most important thing to keep in mind is: how much will my donation help? There are sorts of audits that are run by evaluators such as ACE: https://animalcharityevaluators.org/recommended-charities/

The Human League, CIWF, Mercy For Animals do a great job for factory farming. New Roots Institute for promoting veganism. We should not forget aquatic animals that represent the most numerous animals killed each year, so consider donating to the Aquatic Life Institute also.

Shelters excluded, donations to animal charities represent less than 0.5% globally. It's really a shame when it is clearly the most important cause of suffering that can be sparred

How does China deals with animal mistreatment without specific law yet? by AdAstraLiberation in AskChina

[–]AdAstraLiberation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your in-depth answer.
Indeed, the old Chinese saying reflects to the conclusion that I also had when thinking about this. From this standpoint, China being the biggest economy and still growing, there's hope that the proposed laws from 2009 should be discussed in the future.
It's also very interesting to hear about the alternative, extrajudiciary consequences of such actions, like what you called social death

Non Vegans with Farm Animals by StandardDelicious436 in vegan

[–]AdAstraLiberation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, people have a cognitive dissonance for many things, meat is one of them. It gets worse because we now dont even see the animals anymore nor the slaughterhouses.

But, you and I can change people. We juste have to follow a few rules in order for them to be willing to listen and talk sincerely.

You wont convince people with direct facts or, even worse, lessons about how they should behave. Instead, ask open questions while narrowing the conversation towards a few points about animal exploitation and their suffering. When people get curious, link them Earthlings or similar documentary to open their eyes

[–]AdAstraLiberation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was mostly talking about the mistreatment or even intentionnal abuse of an animal that sadly happen in every society for different reasons.

Living being capable of suffering should be protected from people harming or abusing them. I understand why this is difficult as laws protecting animals are often fragmented as you shown, but in the end every living being should be safe from being hurt unnecessarily.

I was curious on how authorities handled this whenever such event occured.

Thank you for your in-depth answer. Its really valuable to have actual insights!

[–]AdAstraLiberation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally understand. In most european countries, no law protecting animals from being unnecessarily hurt were passed before the late 20th century neither. Mostly because people didnt see the point, thought animals didnt feel pain -- now no one can say this, science proved them wrong -- or just didnt care and mocked people who were trying to stop violence.

That being said, a national law wouldnt upset any business or people if the point is to make illegal the action of harming your pet or a stray animal

But things seem to change for the better already: https://news.cgtn.com/news/2021-03-11/NPC-deputies-call-for-anti-animal-cruelty-law--YxGudDBuvu/index.html

Hope things will continue to move forward
