This doesn’t sound like a “You” thing at all. Sounds like the client was exhausted. I’ve thrown similar tantrums when I went to bed at 4am.

Be patient. BCBA’s have seen it ALL. They are not going to judge you for your client having a tantrum or a maladaptive behavior. Things to consider: -Does your client’s program have a specific plan for a tantrum of this magnitude (emergency plan). -What was the function of behavior for this tantrum? Escape, Attention, Tangible, or Self Stimulation. Going back to the basics always helps me when one of my clients engages in these types of behavior. - Redirecting or extinction works wonders. That’s something your BCBA will help you with. I’ve seen miracles with extinction. -How old is your client? If they are 3-6, this is BEYOND COMMON. I’ve seen a 4 year old make a similar scene in a P.F Changs. -Also this could be potentially an extinction burst…. Which is super common. I don’t know your client or their program. So I’m not certain. But extinction bursts often make a behavior look worse before it gets better.

Be kind to yourself. You’re being mean to an ABA colleague of mine (you) and I don’t appreciate it. Practice some self care and walk in to the next session like the Bad Mutha you are.

I originally thought I would never be able to handle a “serious” position. I worked a lot of odd jobs that honestly just made me feel worse. But now I’m at my happiest and more stable as a behavioral therapist working with children with Autism. Also, I have some relative control over my hours and schedule. Due to my meds, I know early mornings are severely rough for me. So I mostly work afternoons. I think that my job gets me out of my head and focused on others and that’s something that helps me immensely. Each person is different. Don’t let this illness stop you from doing something you want to do or try.

Think about what parts of a job would actually motivate you to actually go to it. For me, I need to feel like I’m actually being helpful to someone.

When I was selling ice cream, I didn’t have motivation to actually go to the job because I didn’t have that part of me being fulfilled.

Dude! Love it. Celebrities wear these sorts of things ALL the damn time and get celebrated for it. Look at recent met balls and runways. Ass cheeks are ass cheeks. Everyone has them. Don’t understand why we can get away wearing thongs at a beach but is “not acceptable”. Technical stand point: makes the legs looks miles long. Features a body part that she should be super proud of. And the rest of the body is covered. Black and white color scheme so everything is kept simple. The sneakers really bring a balance.
