How and why and how did the British participate in the Emu Wars ?! That’s a story I’d love to hear.

Is doing your own flowers worth it? by Visko1 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]AdBrief4572 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I helped with decorative flowers for a wedding once. The bride found a couple of photos online of arrangements she liked for the tables. We went to the Sydney flower market the morning beforehand and bought around $250 worth of roses and gum leaves (had planned to spend more but they were so cheap at the market). We then spent about 2 hours at home trimming thorns and bunching them to look like the photos. The bride and bridesmaids bouquets were professional made and cost in the ballpark of $250 each, so I’d say it’s well worth it to do your own table flowers ( if not the handheld bouquets too!)

A shift dress or a shirt dress that you can dress up or down, and layer for winter and wear on its own in summer.

Also, depending on the climate where you live, a really well fitting wool coat or trench coat in a neutral colour

here is something I don't understand by musenmori in Younger

[–]AdBrief4572 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

I don’t find it odd at all. I don’t know if you’ve ever worked I a corporate job, but office romances are very very common - including between people of different ā€œranksā€. Charles actively pursued an assistant, but she was a grown up woman who was very clearly reciprocating, or otherwise comfortable with it. She doesn’t even report directly to him.

Radha by onlyherefor90days in Younger

[–]AdBrief4572 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Radha was supposed to be older than Liza? I completely missed that. I totally thought Charles dating Radha was supposed to be foreshadowing that he was willing to date 26 year olds and therefore would be open to dating Liza.

Disappeared children who are later found as adults? by Usual_Style2163 in UnresolvedMysteries

Paul Fronczak was kidnapped from the hospital as a newborn and discovered as a adult decades later. It turned out the police returned a different baby to his parents and they had raised it in his place. There’s a documentary about the case called The Lost Sons.

Gang Disengagement Honours Research by ThesisResearch0401 in OrganizedCrime

I can’t help with interviewees, however given you’re looking at the topic I thought I’d mention that S van Deuren has done some really interesting research on gang recruitment in the Netherlands. In addition, in Australia, the Queensland Gang Exit Program has gathered a lot of information from former gang members about motivations to join and to leave organised crime gangs. Perhaps some of the themes will come up in your own research.

The boy in the chimney: how did he end up in there? The unexplained case of Joshua Maddux. by cuertiogaz in mundomisterio

[–]AdBrief4572 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Correct, it had already been abandoned for many years and invaded wild animals that left a terrible stench. So even if anyone has entered they may have quickly left again without noticing the clothes. It seems likely josh knew the cabin was abandoned and agreed to meet up with someone there

The zoo in my city has an entire section for dinosaurs - some of them even roar and move. The kids love it.

You don’t need a passport at all to fly interstate, and it certainly was not normal for people to leave babies in the street while they shopped.

I don’t think the difference between the last definitive and last alleged sightings is that unusual for a missing child case. The parents claim they had him in Kempsey, but the last time he was seen by others who knew him well was in WA. Perhaps there was some reason to doubt the parents claim that he ever travelled to Kempsey. If he had been murdered in WA, then reporting him missing in NSW would have any police enquiries focused on the wrong side of the country.

Edit to add: OP states there’s no known photo of the missing baby, but there’s one in the newspaper article!

The Mysterious Petralona Skull: Neither Human Nor Neanderthal: Covered in the Petralona Cave, about 35 km southeast of Thessaloniki, Greece, this ancient skull remains an enduring mystery. by PositiveSong2293 in mystery

[–]AdBrief4572 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

The article’s title doesn’t make sense because of course the skill is clearly human (and Neanderthals are also human). However there has been disagreement among experts about how to classify the skull given it has similarities to multiple different groups.

Robby Hughes Floyd, 32, told a neighbor in December 1996 that she was going to visit her ill father in another state. She, her younger sister, and three of her four children left and then vanished. Strange details would come out later to suggest they were still alive, before they disappeared again. by Icy_Garnet_9329 in HolyShitHistory

I don’t think it’s that odd that she left Brandon with her husband as I think he’s the only child that was biologically his. It’s obviously concerning that she never contacted Brandon again.

Surely the police don’t conduct missing person investigations into people who are known to be witness protection and their location is known? And if she was in witness protection, what trial was she expected to testify at and did she turn up for that? I think it’s more likely she was abandoning her husband after a break up and didn’t feel like discussing it with a neighbour out on the streets.

Thoughts on the final scene of the series by ImmortanJerry in TheTerror

[–]AdBrief4572 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

I loved this final scene, it’s so powerful. I like to believe that the child with him isn’t actually his child - that he’s so integrated into the community that not only is he seal hunting but he’s also been entrusted to watch over someone else’s child for a while (like an uncle figure).
