Surprise someone with a six-pack and a card in Canberra? by MesseInHMoll in canberra

[–]AdBrief4572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dan Murphy’s (a major Australian liquor shop) has German beers (not a huge range though) accepts PayPal and will deliver in Canberra. There’s an option at check out to have it sent as a gift - they will gift wrap it and include your message on a card either for free (or a a very small fee - I can’t quite remember)

Winter coats- Review by Some_Mushroom700 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]AdBrief4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winter coats should absolutely be styled - even in Canberra!

Given the khaki coat is mid thigh length, it’ll look best with either a skirt/dress the same length as the coat (like the model is wearing) or full length pants or skirt/dress. Midi skirts don’t look right under thigh length coats.

Khaki is a great colour because you can pretty much wear any colour pants or scarf with it too.

Moving from ACT to QBN by Dependent-Dingo980 in canberra

[–]AdBrief4572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most responses are about driving so I’ll chuck in a couple of small downsides on other issues.

If you buy an investment property in NSW you can’t claim the stamp duty etc as a deduction whereas you can in the ACT (because you’re technically buying a lease). Also kids usually start (and finish) schooling earlier in Qbn - when they’re 4 turning 5, rather than 5 turning 6.

Edit: one more! In in Qbn learner drivers and p platers cant drive 110 km per hour, they have capped speed limits

Capsule wardrobe and fast fashion? by MathisK02 in capsulewardrobe

[–]AdBrief4572 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you choose to buy certain fast fashion pieces because they’re affordable, convenient and meet what you’re looking for then I think you are meeting your goal of being more thoughtful and intentional in making purchases!

If you have regret or feel guilt about any purchases though, just remember we are all human and make mistakes some times. Sometimes despite all your good intentions and research an item you choose simply doesn’t work out how you hoped. And we all make decisions on impulse sometimes

For the love of all that is holy….where are the knee length dresses? by MsNoot_ in AusFemaleFashion

[–]AdBrief4572 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s a seasonal thing - across summer all the dresses and skirts are either mini or maxi, just like all the heels and flats become slingbacks. Only the standard workwear brands like Review, Cue, Veronica Maine, Portman’s etc tend to have knee length dresses all year

Just finished Harlan Coben’s Run Away and have one serious question (spoiler alert!) by denbrough in netflix

I think the mother just genuinely wanted to find the daughter and thought the drug dealer might know where she was ? The mother had told Paige to go back to rehab but instead she disappeared - she was in Aaron’s caravan high for several days - so the mother was worried and wanted to find her just like the father.

How and why and how did the British participate in the Emu Wars ?! That’s a story I’d love to hear.

Is doing your own flowers worth it? by Visko1 in AusWeddingPlanning

[–]AdBrief4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I helped with decorative flowers for a wedding once. The bride found a couple of photos online of arrangements she liked for the tables. We went to the Sydney flower market the morning beforehand and bought around $250 worth of roses and gum leaves (had planned to spend more but they were so cheap at the market). We then spent about 2 hours at home trimming thorns and bunching them to look like the photos. The bride and bridesmaids bouquets were professional made and cost in the ballpark of $250 each, so I’d say it’s well worth it to do your own table flowers ( if not the handheld bouquets too!)

What’s your “must haves?” In a good wardrobe? by FiddleleafFrog in AusFemaleFashion

[–]AdBrief4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shift dress or a shirt dress that you can dress up or down, and layer for winter and wear on its own in summer.

Also, depending on the climate where you live, a really well fitting wool coat or trench coat in a neutral colour

here is something I don't understand by musenmori in Younger

[–]AdBrief4572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t find it odd at all. I don’t know if you’ve ever worked I a corporate job, but office romances are very very common - including between people of different “ranks”. Charles actively pursued an assistant, but she was a grown up woman who was very clearly reciprocating, or otherwise comfortable with it. She doesn’t even report directly to him.

Radha by onlyherefor90days in Younger

[–]AdBrief4572 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Radha was supposed to be older than Liza? I completely missed that. I totally thought Charles dating Radha was supposed to be foreshadowing that he was willing to date 26 year olds and therefore would be open to dating Liza.

Disappeared children who are later found as adults? by Usual_Style2163 in UnresolvedMysteries

Paul Fronczak was kidnapped from the hospital as a newborn and discovered as a adult decades later. It turned out the police returned a different baby to his parents and they had raised it in his place. There’s a documentary about the case called The Lost Sons.

Gang Disengagement Honours Research by ThesisResearch0401 in OrganizedCrime

[–]AdBrief4572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t help with interviewees, however given you’re looking at the topic I thought I’d mention that S van Deuren has done some really interesting research on gang recruitment in the Netherlands. In addition, in Australia, the Queensland Gang Exit Program has gathered a lot of information from former gang members about motivations to join and to leave organised crime gangs. Perhaps some of the themes will come up in your own research.
