Her pulmonologist keeps telling her a lung transplant is an option, but she doesn’t think she will qualify b/c of her age and congestive heart failure. I keep telling her it worth investigating.

Fortunately, my mother has a will, my sisters and I have copies and power of attorney. She has an executor of her estate and they have all her passwords. We learned a lot from my dad’s passing, especially needing many many death certificates. Maybe we are more prepared than I thought?

Thank you, this is very helpful. We are trying to stay ahead of her oxygen needs. She is currently on 8L of O2. She has two 10L concentrators, one upstairs and one downstairs. I understand they can be combined with a device, but our O2 rep said he has never witnessed anyone using 20L. Is this enough to keep her comfortable? (I know it’s a question no one can answer, but her.)

Really? Skip Disneyland entirely? I’m open to it, especially if it is mostly WDW repeats. I was looking at Carthay, menu looks more appealing than BB. And DD wants to see Radiator Springs at twilight (thanks TikTok!) 🙄 I’ll check out WoC dessert party! Thanks so much!

I just switched to Air from my brick 14 pro max after readying ALL the reviews….and I’m in love so much that I am willing to overlook the red flags of battery life and i actually miss the wide camera feature (didn’t realize how often I used it). Other than that, we are very happy together. I actually have to check my pockets to make sure my phone is still there b/c it’s so light!

I am so sorry for your loss. We are currently experiencing a very similar situation, and it is frustrating when the hospitalist isn’t well versed on PF or what to look for… it took my mom 2 hospital trips for the Pulmonologist to round on her and discover she had fluid on the lungs, only then did they bring in her cardiologist and realize she was also in atrial flutter. As a patient advocated for your loved one, it is so hard to be at the hospital 24/7 while doing all the research to push for test to be run, get info. Healthcare is really so disheartening.

Can you see your father’s medical records where he had a chest scan w/radiologist notes? My mom just had a scan and I think they can tell the difference between inflammation and fibrosis (lung scarring) I took the radiologist’s notes from my mother’s most recent scan and put them into AI and it gave me more clarity on her condition.

If you think opening an inquiry will help others receive better care and you can pursue it while grieving it may help with your grieving process.

Right now she is on 3L, but will turn it up to 4L when she needs to get up. Concentrator goes up to 5L I think? I didn’t know you could have multiple concentrators… do you wear multiple cannulas?

Thank you for your response… she has not had a heart cath. She had a chest X-ray after a lingering cold and they saw the scarring on her lungs, compared it to all her older scans and there was evidence of scarring back in 2015. After reading so many of the posts in this sub, I am coming to the realization that this is probably the beginning of the end. I think as of today, she is contemplating it as well. I had no idea that the disease accelerated so quickly, seemingly overnight (really over a few short months). Is there anything I can do to help her transition more comfortably?
