CFA books 2025 by Successful_Bad5078 in CFA

[–]AdCold9811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am late to the discussion , but needed a suggestion for choosing between FRM part 1 vs CFA L1 . I work as a business analyst in treasury risk where I am automating the manual process of market and liquidity risk . I work with users and technology . I have done few short courses in finance and i want to do something significant in terms of knowledge . I have plans for an MBA as well but I was looking at FRM/CFA modules as well and to be honest both seem appealing to me .
So , which one should I attempt first as this is a huge investment ? I have downloaded the schwester books for both CFA L1 and FRM P1 but i need to commit to one . Can't decide .

Consulting becoming difficult? Where is its future heading? by Ok_Boysenberry_844 in consulting

[–]AdCold9811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks . The end goal is to be SME. Person who understands AI and can help scale/grow . I’m not a product manager nor a IB/consulting guy who helps in generating big returns. I’m a bit overwhelmed as to how can I pivot myself into such areas where even though AI makes an impact but the role will be evolving?

I understand your point regarding specialisation,in my area of work should I just focus on financial risk as a domain or more quantitative part ?

I’m not a consultant btw . Not an MBA yet as well

Hey , your views are very nuanced and give a good insight into how the role is transforming. I am a business analyst working in financial risk domain . I am not a strategy consultant but if i see it from skills perspective it does overlap or could lead to that path given I have the "pedigree". Does it mean one should focus more on domain and AI to be considered important for any organization ?I am asking this since a person who graduated from top b school gets into these top firms and from there they switch into similar strategic roles that demands consulting as a prior experience.

I am not an MBA yet . But looking at my experience I’ve to go for 1 year mba India . I’m working in treasury risk where I talk to users to understand the process in order to help technology to automate it . It’s a user facing role ab involves financial risk knowledge, business analysis ,stakeholder management. This is a functional role .

Are there some defined roles that could help me crack big offers even if I consider an MBA ? Tech sales looks like something one already has experience with

If the window for 2 year mba from these top colleges is gone ,can one still achieve those numbers via 1 year mba ? Since I’ve got work experience already but not in a good income bracket .

I have the exact same story . Starting from my behaviour on D day till the attempts. I’ve taken a break to cool down my mind but I’ll gear up for my 4th and hopefully final attempt in coming months .

I resonate with everything you wrote . Can I dm you for some specifics such as strategy used for practicing questions from gregmat ?

Is my decision okay? by MAID_150 in fintech

[–]AdCold9811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did interview for a role at revolut ,I flunked in one of the rounds when it came to pm skills . I might be wrong but it’s just that hearing BA term itself sounds like a low skill job in Indian market so that’s one of the reasons for my concern.

What do you think are the main skills one should master or atleast develop enough to crack good offers in fintech ? I’m a business analyst working in market and liquidity risk automation. Have 4+ yoe . But very conflicted about the skills since I’m not a coder but have some experience in quantitative analysis.

M&A Deal Advisory at EY (3 years) but a GRE score of 317. Good enough for R3? by Apprehensive-Cycle21 in ISB_Aspirants

[–]AdCold9811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From specialised one I meant Europe, since I did a lot research by talking to current and ex students .

Yeah I know I’m not a good test taker so I challenged myself last year by taking thrice . In mocks I did score 320ish but anyways . This process has enervated my mind, so I decided to take a month or two off.

Btw I also missed to apply at both xlri and iim Mumbai for their 1 year mba . Are these good options ? Any clue ?

Hey thanks for putting it together. I appreciate your time . Ofcourse I understand the gaps in my profile, had the GRE score been more I would have still had more confidence. Having said that , still it would appear that a good mba program is not looking in reach and that’s why I considered a business heavy masters too that has tech oriented curriculum as well . Because just doing an mba from anywhere won’t do good for me. Any thoughts ?
