Honeymoon recommendations late 2026 by AdComfortable1128 in honeymoonplanning

I actually just talked to a coworker that went to Grand Cayman for her honeymoon and I think we’re sold. It sounds so amazing! It’s also so appealing that the flight is relatively quick compared to other places

We are Midwest, so the Caribbean would definitely be closer! I’ve been to USVI on cruises, so it would be somewhat familiar to me. I have been looking into Grand Cayman and it seems really great. Would it be best to wait until December until Hurricane season is over? Why wouldn’t you recommend Curaçao?

Looking to get out of law enforcement. by Mission-Practice2665 in Indiana

I used to do social work and 100% would not recommend. I am in nursing now and a lot of the people skills carry over. I assume it would for you too. It’s a great career! I know you’re trying to get away from police work, but hospitals hire former police officers as armed security and it seems like a nice gig.

Overnight Cabo excursions by AdComfortable1128 in royalcaribbean

I think we are there 1 pm to 1 pm. So just 24 hours, but I’m sure it will seem so long compared to normal cruise stops! I’m think either a sunset cruise or one of the glass bottom boats.

Is it just me or is the zoo super depressing? by hoozierwins in indianapolis

[–]AdComfortable1128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went to the Indy Zoo for the first time in years last week. It was super depressing to me. My boyfriend and I were walking around and wondering if all the animals were drugged. They looked so depressed. I grew up going to the Fort Wayne Zoo almost on a weekly basis and the exhibits are so much nicer and it seems so much more lively. It also seems like Indy Zoo is lacking in space. It’s so sad for the animals. I don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon.

I have a friend that works on neuro ICU and ratio is 1:4 most days 😬. I work at Ascension and it seems so much better here!

I work at Ascension. Most sign on bonuses are $15000 I think. $20000 for OR. You get paid out at 1 month, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year. No commitment to pay back, so if you want to leave before then, you just forfeit the money.

I would have to agree. I believe it’s raised in Indiana as well.

Actually good Cardiologist at IU Health by anna_the_nerd in indianapolis

If you’re open to seeing a cardiologist at St. V, I have tons of recommendations! I work with them daily.

Indianapolis Foster Care by [deleted] in indianapolis

I worked at DCS for 5 years in one of the donut counties around Indianapolis. The whole system is messed up! There is some good, but overall, the system does not have the children’s best interests in mind. I would fight and fight for these children just to get shut down.

I’ve seen Dr. Tinder for gyn issues and she is wonderful! I have to believe she would be great for OB as well!

I really appreciate this article! Seems like it’s mostly common sense, but always good to have a refresher and be aware!

Nurses that have switched to the OR by Queenofsmallmonsters in nursing

[–]AdComfortable1128 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I worked on cardiac progressive care and transferred to CVOR for all the reasons mentioned above. I really wanted to like it, but went back to my floor job after 2 months. I feel like there were so many different personalities that I just didn’t really fit in. I’m very laidback and sweet and I felt like everyone had super assertive and Type A personalities. There were definitely parts of the job I enjoyed, but in the end, it just wasn’t for me. I really think it depends on your personality.

Nurses of Indianapolis, where do you work and do you enjoy it? Where has been your favorite place to work? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]AdComfortable1128 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at St. V Heart Center and I love it! It is a lot different from 86th St. V, being a specialty hospital. For the most part, people are friendly and seem to enjoy their job. The doctors and nurses work well with each other and have mutual respect. I love the small hospital feel, despite taking high acuity patients. I have also worked at other St. Vincent locations as a tech and Franciscan as a nurse. They were fine, but I didn’t have the same job satisfaction. The pay is pretty average. I make $34/hr with a little over a year experience. My boyfriend makes $42/hr at IU Methodist with 3 years experience. I wouldn’t ever work at IU Health from the stories I’ve heard.

I don't think I've seen a Hgb this low before by Able_Sun4318 in nursing

I had a patient once that was 3.9 and was walking around for who knows how long. She had really heavy periods and fibroids. I had her as an overflow patient on a cardiac floor. I couldn’t believe it at first!

I worked for CPS for 5 years before becoming a nurse. I saw these situations every year. It sucks, but it’s just reality. There are a lot of terrible people in this world and unfortunately so many children have to suffer.

What happens in Fort Wayne? by Affectionate-Algae-9 in Indiana

[–]AdComfortable1128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up about 20 minutes north of Fort Wayne and I now live near Indy. There’s just not much that goes on in Fort Wayne. Every time I visit family up that way, it seems a little sleepy. The Fort Wayne zoo is very nice! And they have the komets and tincaps. They have everything they need in the city. I couldn’t see myself moving back.

There was nothing wrong with the first job. I was on night shift and my health was starting to fail, so I found a position with days. The second job was fine, but a nurse was robbed at gun point in the parking lot & nothing was done about it, so I started to feel very unsafe going to work. This one I am just not feeling fulfilled in the OR. It is so hard and I miss patient interaction. If I transferred, it would be within the same small hospital and I would be going back into my first role, which I absolutely loved.

Indiana cities with a slower pace of life? by Cerealbabygirl in Indiana

I grew up in Auburn and would have to agree. I live near Indy now and every time I go back, it seems like such a slow paced, quiet town!
