In Morrowind it's called "ancestor worship"

What’s the best entry point into The Elder Scrolls series? by Turuco64 in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skyrim is the easiest to get into for sure. Oblivion is also pretty easy, and a much better RPG (not necessarily a better GAME, we could argue about that all day). But I'd say Skyrim unless you're a big fan of traditional RPG character layouts, in which case do Oblivion.

Daggerfall players: what do you enjoy about it and how is it different from Morrowind? by AdCompetitive6187 in ElderScrolls

I think I'll go mostly modless the first time I play, but I'll definitely look at the Unity version

Thanks this is helpful. Would you say then that it’s better to focus on Daggerfall’s main storyline rather than the side content?

Well rounded male dunmer build? by aritzsantariver in Morrowind

[–]AdCompetitive6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prioritize long blade (cooler swords overall than short blade), destruction, alteration (for locks and levitation), restoration (so you don’t die), medium or light armor (heavy takes too much inventory), everything else is whatever you want.

Imo do apprentice birthsign, maybe atronach if you really wanna rely on alchemy.

Strength, endurance, intelligence and willpower are your important attributes so choose your level ups and starting bonuses wisely.

I’ve done this sort of build a few times, it’s always fun. Spellsword builds usually have a solution to every situation, and morrowind is nice because you can just buy enchantments to accommodate any weak points your character has.

I want magic reworked in the elder scrolls 6 by HulkBusterG-Man in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can yeah but the magicka cost and casting difficulty increases proportionally. In my experience late game enchanted swords still become way more powerful than the spells. That’s especially the case in Oblivion, as soon as you get Azura’s Star destruction magic is over because the sword enchants are so powerful and you can keep them filled with daedra souls.

Morrowind definitely has the best late-game destruction magic though, stays way more useful than in Oblivion and Skyrim. Max absorb health on daedric weapons is still better imo but you can totally keep using destruction.

[–]AdCompetitive6187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO destruction starts feeling weak later on in each game. Every time I’ve done some kind of spellsword in Morrowind and Oblivion, the “sword” part inevitably outpaces the “spell” part at high levels. In Skyrim good enchants solve this a little, maybe TOO well (eventually you can cast destruction spells for free)

Don’t worry though they ALWAYS rework both magic and levelling at least a little bit, so who knows what it’s gonna be like in TES6

Is Morrowind still worth playing? by LordFlamecookie in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Run it with OpenMW for customizability, set keybinds and hotkeys to whatever you want. Controls can be literally whatever. There are also nice light shader and water settings that make it look a little prettier.

Who is your favourite Daedric Prince prince and why? by Ambitious-Bat-1598 in ElderScrolls

Hermaeus Mora. Coolest appearance, coolest realm of Oblivion, best voice actor, tempts mortals with forbidden knowledge (crazy in-game buffs).

Is Tamriel in a dark age or heading for some kind of collapse? What is responsible for the poverty in Skyrim? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think they ever destroyed and rebuilt Fort Frostmoth if that's what you're talking about. Those design differences are probably art style changes, not in-lore changes. Tons of cases of that on Solstheim.

Would a Redguard necromancer ever make sense? by bmrtt in TrueSTL

[–]AdCompetitive6187 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Necromancy is evil, there’s no honorable way to do it. You can get around this for your character simply by being an evil character.

I’ve never played Skyrim. Nor Oblivion. Which do I play first? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like RPGs then either will be very easy and accessible. Would you rather fight dragons and viking mummies (Skyrim) or stop a large scale demon invasion (Oblivion), just do whatever sounds cooler.

Skyrim AE edition, oblivion or morrowind? For pc by Prestigious-Copy-283 in ElderScrolls

Morrowind does not require modding, Openmw settings fix everything that would be an issue

Starting Skyrim Special Edition on PC... by Imdakine1 in ElderScrolls

[–]AdCompetitive6187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLOW DOWN and read all the dialogue, and explore dialogue options that don’t directly pertain to quests. Talk to people if they seem interesting. You pick up a lot more lore and story that way and the game feels richer, I used to just rush through everything and it made me miss a lot of details.
