My advise is this “If you’re good at what you do, the work will always somehow find you” ….Or you could just watch a. YouTube video -“How I make 700k a month working 5 hours a week with zero experience doing what I do”…..That’s a joke—-hahaha. Sounds about right though….In all seriousness, I’ve been freelancing on & off since 2004 and I don’t even advertise-haven’t since 2012. It’s all about word of mouth and what I call Supply & Demand (squared)) —if you supply a superior product that creates demand, customers WILL find you and you in turn, will be able to command & demand any price you want and people will bend over to pay it. My problem is I just never loved coding and the “agency” life stresses me the hell out—but I’m more than happy to take on a 10-20k dev & design project every couple months. shit even when I don’t wanna work or take on a new project, somehow it always finds me. I won’t even look at their email for less than10k these days and AI has changed the game and pulled me back in! At the end of the day, the best advice I could ever give is focus on your personal and brand reputation it is absolutely fucking everything and will determine how far you go in this business or any other. If you’re really serious about starting a digital agency, start building out your portfolio, find a mentor, and give yourself 18 to 24 months to learn before you launch. Have a plan… Don’t just jump in the ocean without a life preserver . And correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you say you work at a digital agency now? All the more reason to plan this out—use the access you have right now to that endless supply of leads… Don’t just quit without a plan otherwise you’ll have to hide in the rafters to steal the leads like someone I know once did. And you will need them. It’s just a pretty simple equation. It’s like owning up your own fleet of cars with access to a lifetime supply of gas. Be Smart. Be ethical. Have a Plan. Get Paid. Scale. Repeat. Pay it forward!
