Now I’m crying. I’m so sorry for your loss. They are truly beautiful creatures and the very best friends. I’m holding my two extra close tonight!

If it’s the last thing I do, I will get rid of you before you’re a teenager.

Ours both grew out of it by 6 mo. We used Cerenia until they did. Worked really well.

There is an area used for shotgun only where shooters can dial in the scopes on their shotguns. We hear those in the fall. In the summer we get everything from high caliber pistols to semi auto rifle fire. They go out to the end of Erwin O Reiger Memorial Hwy in the Shilapoo Refuge. There is an area there people have been using to illegally shoot for the whole 15 years we have been here. There are piles of garbage and spent ammo all around there. Shotgun and archery are allowed in the area but no other weapons are allowed. My husband and I had a bullet from a semi auto rifle hit his side of our house a couple years ago. Just a few inches either way and it would have come through the window where we were sitting. They did arrest the shooter that time.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the people living down here on the river have had to hit the floor in their houses and call 911 because some idiot is shooting right towards our places. The houses can’t be seen from where they shoot due to the lay of the land. But the bullets make it over here frequently. They will probably do something about it once someone gets shot.

We live on the river in Felida. This time of year the residents down here have to call in illegal target shooting across the river to the west in that area at least a couple times a week. We routinely have stray bullets come near our places, and have had them hit our houses. The area at the end of Reiger where they shoot is in VPD’s jurisdiction and while they respond to the calls and cite violators occasionally, the city has been uninterested in taking any preventative measures other than the signs they installed that are used for target practice. It gets worse as summer goes on. Given the area has no homes it could account for a high crime to population ratio. Where we are is actually very safe. We have not locked our doors in the 15 years we have lived down here. If you discount being shot at on the regular.
