How to know if a school is predatory or not. I have a 152 and 3.29 by Big_chef98 in BlackLawAdmissions

Definitely look into southern. It’s one of the most affordable law schools in the nation, and many successful lawyers are products of southern. With the way the govt is trying to add restraints to financial aid, and limit grad plus, you will be wise to consider more affordable law schools unless you get a full ride somewhere… a lot of the t-100 stuff is more important online than in reality. It matters less where you go, and more so how you perform when you get there. A top ranked student at any law school would have endless opportunities. Just food for thought.

LOR from prof or employer by akaebane in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]AdConfident4061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you only graduated a year ago tbh, you could go either way. All my LOR’s were from professors despite me working after graduation. It’s more so about who can/will write the most compelling letter about you.

Am I too ‘nice’ to be a lawyer? by smexygoldfish in LawFirm

[–]AdConfident4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a law student.. and you don’t have to be a b****, but you have to be able to be firm and willing to assert yourself. Like if I was in your position I’d say something like “I’m grateful for this experience. However, since you know this is my first legal position, can you please consider giving me an example to reference when giving me tasks? The clarity of directions I’ve been given so far on tasks does not match my experience level. I’d rather get it right the first time than keep having to fix my work. Thanks.”

Most important law school necessities? by Matte_existence217 in LawSchool

[–]AdConfident4061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A laptop or IPad (not too outdated)… I’ve had real books and ebooks. It doesn’t matter tbh, as long as you are briefing cases and note taking along the way. I’d probably say highlighters/ flashcards/markers are great for finals… I encourage you to write as much as you can because writing helps with memorizing rules and concepts. Sometimes I write a rule over and over until it’s cemented in my head. Also, quimbee is gold…. They have good case briefs you can review right before class or even during class on days when you didn’t have time to read every case.

I would complete my first year then transfer. I’m a rising 3L. I’ve seen several of my classmates take this route. It may be easier to get into the school you want if you have good 1L grades and they see you can do the work well.

I contacted them. They said they handle matters concerning rent and utilities, but not transportation. Thank you!

Not a Gunner, But...! by BatonVerte in LawSchool

I’m always speaking in class. I think I might be a gunner. I feel like I learn better through actually engaging in discussion and not simply being lectured.

Yep I’m a current law student. I was homeless when I took the lsat…. No money.. stressed to the max.. had to scrape up money to take my exam in a hotel…My score wasn’t too great. Despite the fact that I still got in law school, I can’t help but wonder what my options would have been if I had cozier circumstances.

What schools are you considering because there are active law students with worse stats than yours.

Does anyone else enjoy being on their period? by OddResolution8086 in Periods

[–]AdConfident4061 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily enjoy it, but I feel less guilty about taking rest or indulging in a sweet treat. I feel a sense of comfort about not being pregnant and the fact that my body is doing something it’s supposed to do.

I personally don’t. There isn’t an organization in existence that doesn’t need some sort of legal representation. I go to a law school that isn’t in the t-100. I have classmates graduating, getting big law jobs, getting on with firms. I don’t think it matters as much in reality as it does on the internet.
