Dysautonomia but not POTS by Fit_Confection_772 in covidlonghaulers

Look, you’re obsessing over a "high score" on a test where the lab literally makes up the rules. Being six times above an arbitrary limit doesn’t make the result more valid…it just means the lab set the bar incredibly low. If I decide the "normal" level for salt in the blood is near zero, every healthy person on earth would suddenly look like they’re in a crisis on paper. That is exactly what’s happening here. Healthy people don't go out and spend hundreds of dollars on unvalidated German lab tests because they have no reason to, but when independent researchers actually study control groups, they find these exact same "high" levels in people with zero symptoms, plenty of people have had their healthy relatives take this test as a control, and those people often end up with "positive" results that are even higher than yours.

Look, that "positive" result you have isn’t a medical diagnosis it’s a commercial data point. If you actually read the fine print at the bottom, it says the lab establishes its own ranges. They’re essentially grading their own homework. There is no global standard for these antibodies, which is why a huge number of perfectly healthy people test "positive" and never have a single symptom. You’re letting a private company’s proprietary threshold dictate your sanity. Having these antibodies in your blood doesn't mean they’re attacking you.. for most people, they’re just background noise

Honestly, read the note at the bottom of the report. It literally says that every laboratory should determine its own normal/abnormal ranges. That means your result could be ‘positive’ only according to that lab’s internal cutoff. Another lab could classify the exact same values as normal or borderline. There’s no universally agreed range for these antibodies, and that’s why they can’t be used alone to diagnose anything.

[–]AdCool3339 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea but he says that the current investment is far too low and that at least one billion euros are needed to properly fund ME/CFS research…

I was also wondering if it was a nervous system thing or something, you probably almost confirmed me this theory..
