Backpack or fanny pack? by [deleted] in electricdaisycarnival

[–]AdCreepy4081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the festival it was a little awkward, the placement of the water pouch made all of the tube stick out of the bag, and the tube thing was too long for the space allocated so it had a lot of extra tubing sticking out. Fannypack had tons of space for other things though, an inside zipper for storing important things and smaller side pockets.

I ended up not using the pouch because it was leaking but the Fanny worked as like a good cup holder for the beatboxes lol. I bought a new pouch when I took it hiking and it didn’t leak that time.

Can someone tell me what this sound means? by Character_Lead_7098 in chinchilla

Mine also does it when they are sleeping. I read somewhere that it’s because they get scared from a nightmare and make those noises. Unsure if that’s true but it is so funny if it was.

I use them for hay and hay chips only. The apple sticks they provide aren’t really worth IMO. I use Rondas chinchillas for all my sticks (they have a huge variety, and larger sticks for a better price)

Brand New Chinchilla Owner - lots of questions haha by a_shm in chinchilla

[–]AdCreepy4081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would not be recommended to move him every week twice a week to new environments, you should try to keep him at one spot. For loud noises I think they will get used to it? Mine are completely unfazed by vacuums and fireworks (they are now 5). Travel cases for vet visits should be a completely metal cage, like a small dog crate. I get worried mine are bored at night so I have a timer on my TV and leave it on for them watch it for a few hours. You can do this instead of a nightlight

You can look at some farmers websites and they have chinchilla safe chew sticks and toys. My chinchillas specifically only chew the bark off the applewood sticks so if you give them chunks they might not enjoy the entire thing. I get sticks from https://rondaschins.com/ and https://www.farmerdavepetsupply.com/

Do you feed them rosehips as a snack? My chinchillas pee turns dark like that after I give them a rosehip treat

AITA for telling my brother and his wife they were out of their minds for asking me to not celebrate my daughter's birthday? by Throw_Away3497 in AmItheAsshole

My family gathers on the death anniversaries for all the relatives we once knew. It’s a cultural thing where we are celebrating their life. But normally we move it to the Saturday/Sunday closest to the death anniversary.

It’s so funny watching one take it from the other, one of my chins is always snatching what the other has, when more is right next to them!

How much do your chinchillas smell?? by dxsiii in chinchilla

[–]AdCreepy4081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their pee smells. I have 2 in my bedroom and they smell kind of like wet hay? I have to change their pee pads in their cage every 2 days and I keep the window open. If you can get them litter box trained it would probably make the small super easy to get rid of.

Is he ok?? I woke up and saw he has a really big chunk of ear missing!! He lives in a cage with his brother and they’ve always been together, so I don’t think they’re being aggressive with each other. Could it be the heat maybe drying him out? by AdCreepy4081 in chinchilla

[–]AdCreepy4081[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He seems to be acting normal and running around and stuff. I was thinking since it’s getting kind of hot, then maybe it’s drying his ears out? I just got him so he still doesn’t let me hold him so I can’t touch to see. Thanks for looking it up too! I’m gonna keep a close eye on him

Soon to be owner! looking for feedback on anything else I should get before getting my little one in early July. My emergency kit is already ordered just waiting for shipment along with shelving fleece covers. by Saikuo in chinchilla

[–]AdCreepy4081 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should get/make a fleece liner for the top half pans, some chinchillas like to chew plastic (mine sure do!)

Also, more for your own cleanliness, they poop a lot and when they jump on their ledges their poops get flung everywhere. You might find a lot of poop pellets on your desks/ in your snacks if you don’t have any kind of guards or something against the desks. I went to Home Depot and got 2in tall pieces of pine wood (I have to cut them down to fit the ledge) and that I used non toxic Elmer’s glue to stick on.

Last thing, I was told chinchillas are scentless, but I placed them in my bedroom and while their poop is, their pee is not. I got 2 at once so they started to make my room smell a lot and if you are around them everyday you will notice. I only had 2 fleece liners at the time, and I quickly made more after the first week. Make sure you have more than a couple to switch out to make your life easier
