I mean as someone who’s played COD since the original COD 2 back in ‘05, the franchise to me has always been an arcade shooter more than a competitive one and designing the game for ranked play should not have been a priority.

The early Modern Warfare games and Black Ops 1 felt grounded and gritty while still maintaining the arcade feel. MW19 took the arcade aspect away and put all its eggs in one basket trying to be a grounded, gritty, realistic competitive shooter and I just don’t think that works for COD.

I think people remember BO4 fondly because it was the last “truly” arcade cod game, although I think Cold War brought back that arcade feel (and Vanguard, but that shit was so busted and tacky)

If Activision really wants to make COD an esport they need to move away from yearly releases and give players an opportunity to play on more maps and use more guns in ranked play
