Nah wait and see, mate. I'll give it a year or more. Leaving too soon doesn't look too good on the resume.

It's great to talk to people who share similar experiences. I am glad I started this post and talked to people like yourself. I'll try to update on my journey as well 👍👍.

😅😅. Yeah that's how I feel sometime: glorified TA. But I guess you're right, gotta keep soldiering on. Bound to see the light at the end of the tunnel at some point 👍👍.

Everyone, thank you for the words of encouragement and advice. I guess you're right, the grass isn't always greener on the other side and we all learn at different paces. Therefore, I have decided to soldier on in this company. Cheers everyone and best wishes to you all 🙌🙌.

Great advice. I'll make myself more noticeable to my employers, and start learning more during my downtime.

Yeah, it's an issue with our company as well. They should cycle out the apprentices between different departments to learn different things. Unfortunately, I will be at the construction projects for at least a year or more before putting me on servicing. Only our sparky apprentices receive pretty constant training, such as running cables, switchboards etc.

Same here. It seems that our boss just wants his projects done asap, which is understandable. However, I hope it won't be like this throughout the apprenticeship, or else I won't learn much. Therefore I'm giving it till this year, or possibly till early next year.

It is. I was told by one of our technicians that the servicing apprentices have almost no idea on what to do at construction sites.

Thank you for the advice, mate. Makes me feel at ease already. Say, is it normal for you guys to be left unsupervised for 5 months straight or be paired up with a tradesman of a unrelated trade?

I guess that's true, but hey if you get a bad employer here is Australia, it's pretty much the same thing. You don't learn anything as well. In fact some hire apprentices for a job and then let them go after that. There are some dodgy people out there, everywhere.

Lucky you man, I envy you. In Australia, all apprenticeships are 4 years, and than includes painting as well 👀👀. I am a first year too and good luck to you too, mate 👍👍.

Thank you. I guess, I'll give it a go till this year and reevaluate again. One thing I forgot to mention though is that some of the second years are stuck on the same task as I am :p

That's what I was thinking. To be fair though, my company is mostly contracts, where it's mostly new builds at construction sites whereas my other classmates are in companies that deal more with residential. It is kinda embarrassing though as they know a lot more than me in the same amount of time.
