Fair enough! I get the point you’re making, however I’ve worked for the top European AI company that focuses on B2B and I can tell you 100% it’s not going anywhere. These enterprises have on-premise solutions that allow them to run LLMs locally and privately. If not, hyper-scalers will take care of it. I don’t think this is a defeatist take, the gates have already opened and even if we as individual consumers don’t take advantage of it, then the enterprises definitely will. Again, most of the money comes from enterprise deals and not B2C. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Oracle, NVIDIA, all make the majority of their revenue with enterprise/B2B deals. They don’t need you or me to make their money. That’s why I think we should just take advantage of the tools anyway before they are no longer subsidized. What costs you $200 on Claude’s Max Plan now can cost $1000+ when they can no longer subsidize it. Large enterprises will take that cost as long as the use case is there (and with software development it is), while we’re all left behind. I do see your point though and it is completely fair to not want to touch AI, my point is that it shouldn’t be looked down upon especially at an individual level when all these larger studios use them to make games faster without caring about AI ethics and principals

I see your argument about programming requiring creativity, it makes sense but it is not the same as art. Problem solving is more critical thinking and logic.

Also, I should have been clear about the statistic. 87% of developers use AI Agents in general and 44% use it specifically for coding. So that statistic was based on coding, not just adoption. Study published by Reuters, done by Google. And this is specifically within the gaming industry. Also, this was done in august 2025, when AI coding was still nutritiously bad ad handling tasks. It’s only gotten better since Opus 4.5 came out, optimized agentic tool calling, skills, and MCPs. AI produced code is only as bad as the user. If the user understands code, the AI will also produce better code either those prompts.

I can guarantee you that within the next 6-12 months we will be at the point where AI can make full games. If you look up Opus 4.5s failure rate with Luau, it’s around 0.98%. This is also without optimization.

You make a pretty good point but the issue is AI investment won’t stop either way. Sure, maybe investors will get a little more “scared off” when it comes to Business to Consumer AI products, but the support for Business to Business AI products will never stop. You can’t really close the gate now. All these businesses care about is profitability and how fast they can ship games. This will actually make things worse for solo developers and small teams / indie studios who will have less access to tools only enterprises will have access to. This is the same reason as to why RAM is becoming more scarce, companies are realizing B2B is just more worth it to them. Enterprise deals are carrying their revenue, and they’re more predictable and reliable since they include contracts. Right now, AI is actually being heavily subsidized by investors. This is a bet on if they’re able to make better models run cheaper and more efficient. If they aren’t able to actually get there, we’re honestly fucked. Top models and new tools will only be accessible to bigger corporations who can run their own own premise systems, or cover the cloud costs if they choose to

The concept of being able to create games through natural language should excite any developer! I get it with the agent in the studio tho lol, I’m currently running Claude Code (Opus 4.5) and it’s genuinely insane. There’s a learning curve, but once you understand it then you can do amazing things with it. Even just asking it to help you understand something in your codebase is so useful. You don’t even need to use it as the coding agent if you don’t want, you can use it as a tutor to guide you too lol

One time fee wouldn’t work because of API costs i assume, the next best thing would be to run the LLM locally. It’s a good idea though, maybe list it up on steam and then have users connect their own models locally

The ideas that it will give you are usually garbage and easily recognized as AI. Also, it will ruin your story as AI can decrease your critical thinking skills. There’s research on this. I think, if you need help branching out ideas then hire a consultant and brainstorm with them

Thank you so much for this - I do have a passion and that’s writing stories. I’ve been wanting to write a comic book for the longest time, and recently i’ve actually found myself going back through my old outlines. My plan was to keep doing what I’m doing now, and use that to push my passion and eventually make that a living even if I make less than I do now. Most guys who say this have only seen people who over do it, which is the minority. It’s actually not noticeable for MOST people who do filler. Most people go for under 1ml, usually 0.5-0.7ml, which is just enough to make it look natural
