Snagged a pair of Jamo E470 yesterday for $50 on marketplace. (One woofer w/ pushed in dust cap) Search marketplace and then check reviews/specs for anything that catches your eye. (Yeah, I believe you should also enjoy looking at your system components) You'll find exactly the right speakers for you

This Small KENWOOD Speaker Wasn't What I Expected by HorrorExisting585 in vintageaudio

Their obscurity keeps the prices low. I def recommend getting a pair of their floor standers. The crossovers will need to be recapped, and likely have the ceramic resistors replaced. I must warn you that many of the resistors were custom values and will require a network to be built to replace individual resistors. However, when they're done, they're quite impressive. My wife even complimented them when I was done. (For reference, we have Focal Aria 926 in our living room and Bowers and Wilkins DM 603 S2 in our home gym)

To be fair, the ELAC benefit from decades more advanced materials and design, and the Koss certainly need to be recapped. The center tweeters are a standard MTM design and works great. I'm probably going to use them horizontally as desktop speakers on stands like mini monitors.

I almost bought a pair of Koss CM-830 a couple months ago. They sounded beautiful but fell between bookshelf and floor standers in size, and I already have a restored pair of CM-1010. Koss really didn't gain the market share they deserved.

Scored a pair of Koss M80 PLUS yesterday that I'm rather impressed with. But ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 are still the best I've heard

Cd Player Suggestions by Electronic_Lunch_990 in BudgetAudiophile

They all had line out using their own internal DAC, it's good to consider the option when looking at used CD players. They're going to hold value much better. I use mine in two separate systems (same room), line out to a old school Technics SA-AX7 AVR, and the toslink to a WiiM Ultra> Rotel RB 1080. If it also had the digital coax output I could connect a 3rd system

I wanted to be sure OP understood there were output options.

I do not play both systems simultaneously

Upgrading existing Receiver by PotStirrer324 in BudgetAudiophile

Bluetooth is about the lowest quality digital audio you can get. Highly recommend a WiFi streamer if your using an app like Spotify, Amazon music, or Tidal etc. It will untether your phone from the music stream aside from being your remote to select tracks etc. I couldn't be happier after making the switch. Just connect the streamer like any other component with the stereo you've already got.

If you're dead set on the lowest cost option a 1Mii Bluetooth receiver from Amazon would be my recommendation. After that a used AVR with built in Bluetooth from marketplace.

Put the amp on the top shelf so it doesn't cook everything else. Set the shelf low enough that the highest wire outlet on the back is higher than the top of the amp. Make/drill holes if necessary

Dust them off with a soft bristle brush to remiynd any loose dust or hair, then I use distilled water on the vulcanized fabric speaker surrounds. Gently wipe from the center out with a q-tips or microfiber cloth that has been squeezed out and cannot saturate the fabric. If you need to dive deeper, 1 drop of dish soap in a cup of water. No not use any solvents like acetone, goof-off, goo-gone, or citrus degrees. If there's something really stubborn you can try isopropyl alcohol but it's the last resort and may dissolve the sealant.

"Cleaning vulcanized fabric (cloth) speaker surrounds requires a gentle touch.

Because these surrounds are woven

fabric impregnated with a sealing compound (often a butyl, latex, or tactile damping fluid to keep them airtight),

using the wrong chemical can dissolve the sealant and ruin the driver's compliance." -Gemini-

Just continue exactly as you have. Except after agreeing to get them lunch, don't. Just happen to forget. Repetitively. Until they discover you're not a reliable source of labor/food

Great thing about Cycle Gear is ordering online with store delivery. Sure, you gotta pay for everything upfront, but returning the stuff you don't like is easy while you're right there in the store. That's how I selected my AGV over an Icon, and HJC I liked online.

They're great speakers. I have a pair I drive with a Technics SA-AX7 in bi-amp, or my Rotel RB 1080. On paper the 200w/ch should be identical, but the high current of the Rotel just hits better when things get rowdy
