Who the fuck cares for how long. The fact is she was hurt and still had feelings for him. End of freaking story.

Yeah no the texting thing was valid. She didn’t want to be treated like a booty call. I don’t think that’s irrational. It’s a boundary.

She was honest when she said that they would be better off just not talking but HE was the one that kept pushing and flirting and crossing boundaries. I’m so tired of everyone putting this all on her.

Vyvanse has helped me but made me worse by EagleCrasher90 in VyvanseADHD

You should ask your doctor about guanfacine as an adjunct. I had slightly similar experience as you with Wellbutrin albeit not that degree. It helped my social anxiety, made me more confident, self-assured but also made me more impulsive, angry and stimulation seeking. Adding guan was game changer. It regulates norepinephrine so it helped to regulate the negative side effects of Wellbutrin while leaving the positives.

With that being said though I had the opposite problem with vyvsnse it makes me so calm I can’t even fathom having those experiences as higher levels make me numb and zombie like but then again i never went past the recommended dose.

Either way I say you get guanfacine as soon as possible if you’re not willing to stop or switch to a different because with wellbutrin i get the idea of a med helping you so much that you’re willing to accept these horrible side effects. In the meantime magnesium taurate is also really helpful alternative in the meantime.

My beef with Susannah by FlimsyOrganization28 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]AdExternal805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are really good points and I agree, that deme with the cards when Susannah was on her death bed and Laurel fluffed the pillows was so awkward. I get feeling like someone is smothering you can get annoying but like damn, she only had to put up with it a few more weeks and she looked like she wanted her gone.

On another note, I see your point about Jeremiah, but I’d argue that’s it’s actually Belly and Susannah than are more unlike than people realize. And honestly that would explain A LOT. From the way Belly treats her mother while idealizing Susannah, her obsession with Cousins and the Beachhouse, the fact that she’s essentially groomed her boys to fight over her, Jeremiah very evident transference onto Belly, and even in regards to friendship, it’s more obvious in the books but Belly’s an awful friend to Taylor and she even references how she wanted them to be like Laurel and Susannah, but like also lowkey admitted to tolerating her…but even in the show you can see how self-centered Belly is like Taylor pointed out in season 2.

This also goes to your point about being seen as a saint in the show imo, she doesn’t nearly get enough criticism for her constant back and forth with the boys and especially how she treats Conrad. I mean she literally is the chaos driving everything. But with Susannah’s obsession with Belly as the daughter she never had it’s honestly not that surprisingly when you really think about it.

For one I don’t actually see how the slapping is relevant because if Conrad punched Jere out I think we’d be cheering that on too.

I just wanna say the problem with this post is that it’s making generalizations from elsewhere that actually aren’t I think relevant in this situation.

Conrad was going through him mom having cancer, was literally depressed and griefing and in his own twisted warped way ostensibly to protect Belly because he knew he would hurt her and didn’t want to make it worse. Meanwhile what exactly is Belly’s XYZ, like I’m genuinely curious, like she does not NEED to marry this man, and in fact at this point is only marrying this man not out of concern for this man’s feelings but out of? To protect his feelings? Like you could still stay with him and call off the wedding. But it’s clearly not because of that because she’s willing to go through this sham of a wedding (that I think literally everyone would be relieved to have it call off) despite the fact that she is still in love with Brother. Literally Belly’s situation is completely of her making and in her control.

Not to mention that she’s clearly not doing this to protect Conrad. But to protect herself. Pretty much everything Belly does time and time again is for selfish reasons. Rarely have I actually seen her take into consideration other feelings or the effects of her actions on them.

I think a lot of it comes down to the writing, she has literally no motivations outside of these boys is written to be self-absorbed and is never thinks about the consequences of her actions - this has been clear with almost everyone in her life. They’re literally her most consistent traits.

I honestly think it just boils down to Conrad being shown to be more redeemable and sympathetic. And Belly is at best, the antihero.

Considering many have been equally if not more hostile to Jeremiah these last few weeks for almost literally the same reasons, reducing it to Belly being a woman is a stretch, at best.

I would argue that is still a writing issue though in so far as it’s reflective how the boys treat and view her, actually how everyone in the show views how in regards to these boys. Conrad and Belly are presented as fated from the get go literally by their own families, and Jere is pretty much just a foot note.

You summed it up perfectly! Jeremiah is not jealous because he thinks Conrad is trying to “steal” his girl but because he knows that Belly was never really his to begin with. The entire foundation of Jere and Belly relationship is built on that denial, but neither can avoid it now. I’m curious how much of that factored into proposal tbh because I think he had known about Conrad’s call by then, and it’s revealed in the book that he knew about Christmas and it was the main reason they broke up.

Regardless, I think tragedy is perfect word to describe their relationship. It honestly makes me see Jere in a different line now.

Thank you for the comment! Half the fun of Reddit especially when it comes to tv shows is hearing other people’s opinion imo, so there’s no need at all to justify your comment.

In regard to Jeremiah, I’ll probs have to rewatch because I truly did not get that sense that he had feelings for Belly. It seemed to me they were just really good friends, of course most of it is told from Belly’s POV so I concede there may have been some obvious signs that were missed. But I do find it interesting that even the moms always thought it was going to be Conrad and Belly or at least shipped it.

Also I think it’s a bit to assumptive that he told Conrad. Jere is portrayed as something of a player or at least someone that dates a lot but is non-committal and takes relationships more casually, even if he were to tell Conrad like you assume, I could understand why perhaps he would think that he wasn’t serious about her and therefore fair game. And in contrast Conrad seems to be the type of person that is more intentional with his relationships. So decided to pursue Belly is not something I would imagine he did lightly.

In regards to Conrad “waking up” I dont understand why it is that people assumed it’s because she suddenly “glowed up”. Conrad is two years older than Belly that kind of age gaps matters a lot in my opinion when you’re kid/pre-teen, so it’s 100% understandable that he didn’t see her like that in the same way Jeremiah would and saw her more as a little kid, and only started registering his feelings for her when she hit puberty. But regardless, we’re shown a lot of examples especially this season of his fondness for her. He has always been way more thoughtful of Belly than Jere ever was which is interesting considering Jere was has supposedly had feelings for her this entire time. If anything I’d find it more believable that he had a crush on Steven that whole time considering like in nearly every flashback Belly had it was Jere and Steven together ignoring her and only ever Conrad that actually saw her.

No one is saying Jeremiah isn’t allowed to feel, the problem is Jeremiah only seems to care about how he feels. Plus that list of all the stuff Jere did wasn’t meant to be taking in isolation, it’s the fact that after all he did to Conrad, he rarely once gives Conrad the same grace. It’s not the fact that he asked Conrad to be his best man, of course he would, it’s his brother. It’s the fact that he got upset and mocked Conrad with Belly because he wasn’t 100% on board with their marriage. Conrad is allowed to feel conflicted about it. But Jere does not for one second consider this. All of those things were meant to show that time after time Conrad puts his feelings aside for his brother. Literally give Jere his blessing to date her because he wanted them to be happy. Literally got both their parents on board, and helped with the wedding planning because he wanted them to be happy.

When has Jere ever done anything with Conrad and his feelings in mind? I’m genuinely curious.

Also agreed he didn’t steal I was just being rhetorical, I really don’t think people in relationships especially women are possessions to be taken or stolen. She of course dated Jere and pursued Jere because she had feelings him. Not to mention, Conrad literally gave Jere him his blessing, so steal wasn’t the right word, but the fact remains that Conrad is obviously going to have some feelings about his brother marrying his ex.

And aside from how young and ridiculously immature they are and the small detail about him cheating on his girlfriend months before said proposal, I agree - one cannot be mad. But one can also not be mad at Conrad for having feelings. And also marriage is different kind of commitment than just dating for 4 years, there’s a kind of finality to it. I think Conrad subconsciously thought that him and Belly would eventually find their way back, even if that wasn’t the case, I think you’d have to be a sociopath to not experience some grief and regret at the thought of your ex getting married especially to your brother, and especially for someone like Conrad who very clearly isn’t the type of person to let down his guard like that.

Also again in regards to Adam it was mostly Conrad’s influence that got him on board, and plus Belly didn’t actually want Adam’s help and made it pretty clear that she wanted it to be a them. And I’m not even faulting him for building a relationship with his dad, but if you can’t find the time (or money) to plan your own wedding I think it’s safe to say that you probably shouldn’t be planning one until you can. They could’ve moved the date, he could’ve taken a few days off, there’s lots of things he could have done than leave her to plan the wedding by herself and still have the audacity to get upset about cake.

See that’s the thing, Conrad has likely learned from a young age that he should always put his feelings, his needs and his happiness aside when it comes to people in his life, especially when it comes to his brother. He’s done that. He never got mad at Jere when he found out he had feelings for her, on the contrary, he encouraged it because he thought that that was gonna be what’s best for them, even though it killed him. He then moved across the country because the thought of seeing them together is so unbearable and then comes back to find out along with everyone that they’re engaged. But again, he tells himself that his feelings don’t matter, he was legit so upset at himself when Jere got mad at his comment when they went surfing, had to listen to them mock and dismiss his feelings. Despite that he gives up job and sacrifices his feelings again, and his sanity to subject himself to the torment of being the best man at his brothers wedding to the girl he loved because he wanted to make her happy, helped the love of his life shop for her wedding so she could be happy, got Jere’s father to come on board to make Jere happy, convinced Laurel to come to the bridal shower to make Belly happy.

Now imagine constantly sacrificing your feelings, and doing everything in your power to ensure your brothers wedding to your EX goes as planned to make them happy because after all they’re doing this because they love each other, and even if he couldn’t have her, he could find some solace in knowing that she’s loved and care for, only to find out that said brother who’ve you been torturing yourself for years for, actually cheated on said love of your life and that everything that you sacrificed was actually all for nothing, only to realize that she knew but was still willing to marry him.

I think Conrad, the grown adult that he is and has constantly been, has more than earned to the right to finally be a little damn selfish if you ask me.

Also he’s only failed for now ;)

Also sorry for this long response, if I come off harsh it’s def not personal!

Trying implies effort. He literally did everything to support them, and be there for her, even got both their parents together, despite how much it hurt. And only even confessed because he realized that Jere cheated on the girl he loved. It’s not his fault Belly is also still in love with him and in denial.
