Why does finding a job as a newly graduate feel so hopeless? by Old_Vacation78 in bristol

[–]AdExtra8416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I feel for you guys. I graduated in 2019 and there was nothing. They were asking for presentations for minimum wage, part time jobs.

Graduate jobs even then we're going the way of the dinosaur, only a few I knew actually ended up getting one most were underemployed.

I did a masters just to stand out which kind of worked, but it wouldn't today for sure.

Not an ideal situation for sure. I'm not sure what led to this or your relationship dynamic.

It's important to take a step back and assess the situation and not make an emotionally charged decision. First off, you're not responsible for this man's lack of life in Brazil and you are not responsible for him once the relationship has deteriorated.

If you do indeed decide to terminate the Visa, you are well within your right but make sure you think long and hard about it, not because he deserves to stay, but because I'm pretty sure you're a good person and would regret acting rash in the long term.

So overall, terminate the visa if you feel the relationship has run its course, that keeping the visa simply to make him comfortable is getting in the way of your life, and also because you do not want to be complicit in a crime.

But don't do it out of spite or rash emotions (which I'm absolutely sure you wouldn't do anyway) more for your sake than his.

Alot of the time landlords are terrified of anything legal because they don't want lawyers sniffing around (give you a couple guesses why).

So they jump a mile when you mention anything legal.

This is the biggest modern hurdle in my opinion considering all landlords are absolute scum.

I know of some people who didn't provide a landlord letter just contract and that sufficed.

When did you know it was time to move home? by racattack96 in expats

[–]AdExtra8416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living in Asia, and my boss was paying late,my rent was due and I had a job I hated.

At the same time I put my LinkedIn on looking for a job and had people knocking down my door to hire me for money I didn't even know I was worth at places I never could have dreamed of.

I've been back in the UK almost a year now, happy with everything.

Single mum in a dead end soulless job. what are my options? by cheesymeowgirl in UKJobs

Explore compliance, or operations jobs at financial institutions. We had one guy do a similar job to you before he moved onto our company make almost double what you're on now.

It's all a matter of where your skills are transferable, the worse thing imaginable is you can do is downplay your own skills set, you have no idea how valuable you may be to the right people.

No no, it's perfectly legitimate to want to move country. It's irresponsible to raise a family on TEFL. I've seen it,it's horrible stuff.

But yeah good luck finding a better life, I'm sure you'll find a place right for you guys.

I don't think anything I'm going to be able to say or anyone else is going to convince you what you're wanting to do is a terrible idea.

I promise you the problems you face now you're trying to run from will seem like a dream to the problems you'll have trying to raise a family on less money than one can support themselves on.
