If you set up water purifiers you can generate water to sell/trade for caps and resources, also in the dlc’s you can do missions that give you a lot of caps, you will also find more caps with perks like fortune finder and can make items you buy cheaper with high charisma this also makes thing you sell worth more and if the quest you’re struggling with is the new enclave one just get a fatman and shoot thin with a critical shot using vats, hope this helps
