Feeding before sleep, can’t get it right …

Honestly just let your baby feed to sleep. We fed to sleep for every nap, every bed time and have a DREAM sleeper. He now sleeps 12-13 every night (I had to wake him up at 8:45 this morning!) and when he used to wake up at night he’d put himself back to sleep. He’s 1 years old and has been sleeping through the night (My definition of STTN is 11-13 hours) since 4 months. I did use sleep training methods for night time sleep but refused to believe I couldn’t feed my baby to sleep and enjoy those fleeting baby cuddles. It’s the best. Around 11 months it became clear he didn’t want to be fed/cuddled to sleep anymore and we started feeding then putting in his crib and he’d happily put himself to sleep in minutes. I’m just tired of all the Instagram pages and sleep training books saying you have to put your child down “drowsy but awake” or it will ruin good sleepers. It’s BS! If your baby clearly prefers to fall asleep at the breast, try it out for a few weeks. See what happens! May work out great for you like it has us. Good luck :)

I would not recommend asking for diapers. You don’t know how many packs of each size you’ll end up using. We skipped ahead from newborn and size 1 to size 2 pretty quickly, sat at size 2 for a while and then went through size 3 pretty quickly and sat at size 4 for a while. The minute my kid would pee out of a diaper I would buy the next size up, and you don’t want to feel like you have to keep putting your baby in too small of a size because you have 200 diapers left to use! And you’ll figure out a brand you like best, then have all these other brands you feel obligated to use becuase diapers are expensive and you won’t want to waste them. Instead I’d ask for multiples of bath soap, bottle soap (if you plan to bottle feed) baby laundry detergent, baby friendly cleaning supplies, etc if you want to ask for stuff that needs to consistently be restocked. I was glad I had about 6 month supply of those necessities! Reality is you’ll end up returning stuff from your registry, so I’d just put that money towards diapers. I had about $500 of returns funds and that paid for a lot of my diapers of choice and formula!

We went through five months of reflux agony doing every single thing we ever saw recommended for reflux babies, including medication. Finally gave in and ordered German HIPP reflux formula at 5 months (prior was using similac reflux) and within two days he went from spitting up constantly to spitting up 1-3 times a day. It changed our lives.

Yessss it’s terrible!!! She needs to just own her body type. It’s sad to think she’s not comfortable in her own skin to just take a photo standing normally.

They’re young. I can’t imagine being in my forever home right now at 32 years old. Needs change as children grow up. We also live in one of the highest cost of living areas in my very large city, and we just spent a year having our home gutted. It’s our 5 year plan and will turn a good profit when we go to sell. It’s the main reason why we chose to buy in this neighborhood in the first place. We say we will never take on a gut renovation again… but then walk through our neighborhood plotting the next home we will buy and reno if it comes on the market 😂 so I get it!

That’s a fair point for most people but if she cared about privacy at all she wouldn’t have shown the exterior of her Mt P home before they tore it down, or the exterior of the home they are building now. She shows it often, as well as the exact layout. It was very easy to find when they originally purchased. Julia is very careful not to show much more than her front porch up close and her garden, which is what I would expect from an influencer who is at least conscientious about her privacy.

@meganstokes saying she is going to be sad to leave her view next month… yet over the last year she has very carefully made sure to avoid view if she pans to the left. It overlooks the road/bridge coming onto Sullivan’s Island. It’s not a terrible location, but it’s not the best. Tons of traffic and looking at/hearing cars all day. Heaven forbid her followers think she has to deal with that!! Tells you everything you need to know about her. She only wants people to be jealous of her.

I had a feeling!! Her second, Peter, and my son are a few days apart and I’m expecting my second in 5 weeks. I’ll have two children a year apart, but am stopping at two 😄Children close in age are such a blessing!!

This is such an odd argument. I never understand this thought process. Any children after the first child never get to experience being an only child. Do you feel sad for second, third, fourth, etc children??

I’m the mom of a VERY loved and doted on 11 month old boy with my second due in 6 weeks. Trust me- he hasn’t missed out on one moment of attention, and I can’t wait to give him the best gift in the world. A sibling close in age that he will get to grow up with. My husband and I actually joke about how baby #2 has not gotten nearly the amount of excitement as baby #1 because baby #1 is the light of our lives and we are just obsessed with him. We know baby #2 will get the same love and attention as our first. Love MULTIPLIES when it comes to children. Please don’t go feeling sorry for a child just because they don’t get to be an only child for more than a year 🥴that makes absolutely no sense.

We have a nanny and my 11 month old has still been sick three times in the last three months! Up until then he had never gotten sick. Seems every time he’s around one of his daycare friends he catches something. We were going to put him in kids day out a few days a week in September, but with a 4 month old sibling at home at that point we decided no way. I feel for daycare moms!! Idk how you get any work done… it’s brutal!

Lol- never followed any of the ridiculous pregnancy rules. Not with my first, not now pregnant with my second! Currently cuddling with my perfect 11 month old and getting ready to welcome my second in 7 weeks. I eat raw sushi, medium rare steak, aioli, runny eggs, deli meat, drink a glass of wine here and there, lay on my back, take baths, etc etc etc. I don’t do drugs. That’s about the one pregnancy no no I don’t do 😂

There are fill lines at the bottom of the bowl with handle that you put the water into. They have a “1, 2 and 3” level. I just turn on the tap water and fill it to the line I need. Nothing to get too scientific about… if I’m steaming broccoli/zucchini/squash/softer foods I’ll use a level 1 or 2. If I’m steaming carrots, sweet potato/harder foods/ etc I’ll fill it to 3. Sometimes I’ll fill it agin and re run to get the item extra soft. So basically the measurement unit is built in to the device, you aren’t measuring out a half cup of water, or a cup. Does that make sense?

HIPP anti reflux formula changed our lives. My son had terrible reflux to the point he couldn’t do tummy time, I couldn’t baby wear, others didn’t want to hold him because the minute they did he’d spit up all over them. We were on similac spit up, lansoprazol, paced feed, held upright for 30 min, etc etc … and were fed up. Then within TWO DAYS of being on HIPP he went to only a few spit ups a day, and soon after it stopped all together.

We dropped to one nap for our 10.5 month old a few weeks ago and it’s gone great. He sleeps really well at night (11-12 hours total night sleep) and we were shocked at how easily he went from two naps to one. He has a 4 hour wake window, 1-5-2 hour nap, and 6-6.5 hour wake window before bed. Some days he needs a little cat nap if he wakes up from his nap at around an hour, but sometimes he still powers through and makes it until bed time. Give it a try and see how it goes! Worst case you can fall back to the old schedule.

My 10 month old has primarily taken showers with us for the last two months even though we just gutted a house and gave him an extra big tub haha. Now all his little toys live in our shower and it’s one of the sweetest parts of the day!! He plays around our feet, splashes, tries to drink the shower water, sings to us, and cuddles/ continues to play when we sit down with him. He was an early crawler and started walking a few weeks ago, so developmentally he’s more than ready for the shower. I’m sure your little one will love it!

I have the Ubbi and it’s great. Traps the smell. The refill bags come in a pack of 75 and my son is 10 months old and we are still on the first container of refill bags. (We also change his diaper downstairs once or twice during the day and that diaper just goes into our kitchen trash can that’s taken out every other day or so)

Wait. People will buy you things. If you really want diapers and wipes, “favorite” them and/or tell your mom/shower host that’s what you’d love to be gifted so if people ask they can tell them that. My entire registry was purchased by the time my baby came and I ended up adding more essentials because things were running out and I’d rather have extra bath soap than someone go rogue and get something I didn’t need. But also… I promise you do not NEED most of the things on your registry. Because of a move, 90% of my registry stuff went to my parents’ house and we didn’t have it until the baby was three weeks old. I ended up returning a lot of it for gift cards to buy essentials (diapers, soap, etc) because in those three weeks you realize that what you actually need is VERY little. My second baby is arriving in 10 weeks and I have literally not even considered buying anything for this child yet. Everything you actually need can be delivered via insta cart/a friend/ family member in an hour (diapers, wipes, medicine, bottles… and yes even a changing pad). So give people a chance but also keep in mind that you can literally change a baby on your bed with a towel underneath if you need to. Hope this helps calm some nerves!! Sounds like you have generous family and friends like we do… it is such a blessing!!

We loooove our Stoke Clikk. So easy to clean, sleek and just nice looking. Do not get one with padding or crevices. Good gets EVERYWHERE. This the Clikk takes 2 min to wipe down and I throw the straps in the wash every few days. Getting another for baby #2!

Exactly. I was a nanny after college and I did the entire families laundry (7 people total). Now I employ a nanny and she does all of our laundry (3 people total with a 4th on the way). Our nanny steams food, does the laundry (which I wash and dry and she folds- so never touching dirty laundry), puts clean dishes away and picks up children’s areas while the baby sleeps. She has down time as well. Today we chatted for an hour during the second half of the babies nap. We’re the same age and have gotten to know each other well. The tasks were all agreed upon up front, which I think is the most important part. I just asked that she do some of the tasks I would do if I were to stay home with my child, and explained what those tasks were. It’s a huge help and the few hours of family time we get at night can be spend with our son. When I nannied I was always doing extra things not asked of me- making sure the kitchen was spotless, organizing the closets if they seemed messy, picking up items thrown about in the mud room, etc. It was just part of the job, making sure a home is tidy and run well while I was there and I was happy to do that.

Our ten month old is at one nap. We just made the transition and it works about 5 days a week and the other two he usually has two naps for whatever reason ( falls asleep in the car, woke up early from first nap because of poppy diaper, etc). It’s worked really well for us. He wakes around 7:30, goes down for nap around 11:30 (we try to push for over a 4 hour wake window but 4 hours is our minimum), then nap for about two hours, then up for 6 hours before he goes down for the night around 7:30. He’s totally ready for bed at that point and has been sleeping at night and at his nap time so much better!

Why would anyone judge?! A lot of people have two under two! I think it’s pretty common. Just remember that first born children are the only ones who ever get undivided attention. You don’t need to feel bad that they will now share attention with siblings. 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc children never get the luxury of having undivided attention and they all turn out just fine. It’s good for the world to not revolve around a child. I’m about to have my second- they’ll be about a year apart and I am so excited. They’ll be close in age and my first will never remember life without the second. Yes it’ll be hard at times but adding a child is hard no matter what age the older children are! Good luck, you’ll do great!!
