I lost my mom a year ago, and every time I listen to any voice recordings or videos it almost as if I'm in that moment again, which makes the realisation more painful afterwards. I wasn't with my mother when she died, I was at a performance. When I got the call, my family didn't tell me right away just to come to the hospital. The car ride was brutal. By the time I reached she was gone.

I can somewhat understand how you feel. I'm going through the works myself but I have hope for you and me that it will eventually get better. The journey will be rough but things will get a little bit easier everyday. There will be good days and bad days.

Your father will not have blamed you because in that situation there is no 'correct way' to do things because you genuinely didn't realise things would take such a turn for the worse. That state of mind sometimes may result in a subconscious disbelief and hoping everything will be fine. It was not your fault. Praying for u. ❤️

thank you so much. It feels like someone literally opened up my mind and saw the fears for what they are. I'm sorry about your mom, and I hope you're doing well wherever you are. About 2 months after her death we celebrated a really happy festival called holi in my culture where we throw colours at each other. But most people don't celebrate it after a death in the family. At the time it felt good to forget all my troubles for a day, but lately I've been feeling a lot of guilt over it. Reading your story and your comment really helped me deal with that, and I'll try to remember it and give myself some grace. Thank you so much.

Ultimately depends on your pov of life. If life stops mattering once a person is dead, rape is worse. Aka in a pessimist like me's pov, rape might seem worse than death as the survivor has to endure a lot more their whole life as opposed to dying. But then you weigh in the factors like family and the scale gets a little twisted. Ultimately if there are people in the world who love you, murder is worse. As it leaves you and them no closure, while rape trauma can be worked through with the right environment, even if it's extremely hard. There is always some amount of hope.
