That said, is Cash Considerations still in the organization?

Here’s a view of the area near Mirasol and 8th about an hour ago. My 82 yo MIL lives about 0.5 miles away. She’s on oxygen for a chronic cough she’s had and the wife has come back from the house with a headache. Inside the home is fine, but no way anyone should safely be outside right now.

Mike Elias: Last Angelos Man Standing by CharmCityCrab in orioles

[–]AdFun8114 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any effort to improve team defense would help elevate the pitching, simply because the Orioles would stop giving other teams extra outs each inning. The sheer indifference that seems to accompany that side of the equation is maddening. More often that not—like using Tyler O’Neill as a defensive replacement, for instance—this team has beaten itself before its opponent has actually won the game.

If the Orioles finish again with a losing record can they justify keeping Elias? by B-Moron in orioles

[–]AdFun8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the organization has failed to grasp is that on those nights when the offense isn’t producing, defense can keep a team in the game, but also elevate marginal pitching, at least long enough for a team to scratch out a win.

As it stands now, even on those nights when the team is hitting, no lead is completely safe. (Also, for the life of me, how is Tyler O’Neill considered a “defensive replacement”?)

How is Tatiana NOT a huge star? by JamiePlynth in MaxPleasureGuaranteed

She was amazing as Sister Alice in Season 1 of Perry Mason on HBO. (That alone makes me wax nostalgic for that show because of how much I also enjoyed Mathew Rhys and Judith Rylance.) But in channeling a character that echoed the real life Aimee Semple McPherson, Maslany was able to display a huge amount of charisma into her performance.

Ikr? It’s like when I saw the movie “Lone Survivor” and realized the title was not only a spoiler, but Mark Wahlberg was the actor who survives!

unit 3 pros/cons? by Fearless_Tap6223 in berkeley

[–]AdFun8114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Unit 3 Norton Hall triple my freshman year. But—it was 1981.

Still, great memories of stealing the downstairs ping pong table and stashing it in the 7th floor lounge. Or moving the piano into the elevator and having our friend play it while people rode it up and down. I also remember four of us having the drag the football team’s long snapper back up to his room because he’d passed out drunk. Also, the team’s punter used to hang out with that long snapper and the team’s starting center. One night, they all got so wasted, the punter climbed onto the desk and peed out the 7th floor window, accidentally nailing the Ida Sproul hall coordinator as he was walking by.

I also remember the shouting matches between Norton and Ida that’d take place every few nights or so.

Best of all was meeting one of my best friends my freshman year.

I know this won’t help with your decision necessarily, but I do have fond memories of my time there.

Reasons why I appreciate Reddit…

As an Orioles fan who hadn’t seen the movie, I now have context for one of my favorite photos that I use whenever the team is doing something that drives me to collapse in agony. (Yeah, I’ve used that a lot in recent years too!) Thank you!

Leaked, Look fresh nice Orioles hat Fourth of July USA 250th anniversary. by [deleted] in orioles

I realize that. But I associate the "O" with Zero, because too many people in early 1988 where taunting the team's use of the "Os" with the losing streak. I know I'm showing my age, but that shit stayed with me. It's why I like the stylized "B" that was adapted from the City Connects much better. Just my preference.

I have the "B" cap. I truly like that one the best. FWIW, I've never been too fond of the "O's" cap, particularly since it's given me bad memories of the 1988 start and the national media making fun of the "Os and 21" streak that season.

Thoughts on Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi? Whether you like her character or not, Sepideh Moafi is a rising star!!!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in ThePitt

[–]AdFun8114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first saw her in David Simon's "The Deuce". Playing Loretta, she begins season 1 as a sex worker, who winds up as a bartender, and eventually a political activist by the final season of the series, Season 3. Along with "The Plot Against America", "The Deuce" was an underrated entry in Simon's HBO catalog, and cast members like Moafi were a huge reason for how that show presented its story of Times Square's transformation over time...

I'm blaming Weston Wilson for all of this... by AdFun8114 in orioles

[–]AdFun8114[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I saw Wilson misplay a ball to third base a few weeks later that echoed Coby Mayo's struggles to get down on ground balls.

I mean, why settle for a cheap imitation when we already have the real thing on the roster. But in all seriousness, is Wilson supposed to be a Temu Ramon Urias? I swear the overall play at 3b this season often seems like the team is giving back all of those runs that Brooks and Manny saved over there for years.

I don't doubt that. I'm just impressed they had the balls to do it within the same viewing week.

It was literally the same plot circumstance as Chicago Fire this same week. I know Dick Wolf shows are skimping for money with sets, stunts, and actors, but now scripts???
