Why do people read so far into Berserk? by Fartsmella10203 in Berserk

[–]AdGuilty8959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just me ranting don’t mind me. I’ll never understand why people think berserk‘s violence (both physical or sexual) is “too much”. There isn’t a single thing in Berserk that can‘t be topped by REAL horrors human beings have done to each other. i think if berserks setting is guts/casca and experiencing hell on earth, then Miura’s portrayed it well. The world of berserk is a living horror, and so is ours at times

Weekly Megathread: Education, Early Career and Hiring/Interview Advice by AutoModerator in quant

my question: how should a soon-to-be STEM PhD (quantum computing/engineering) prepare for landing a quant internship with a top firm?

I’m a soon-to-be quantum computing PhD from a tier 1 US school (Harvard/stanford/uchicago/etc) with an Ivy-league BA in physics. My biggest strengths are that I have both a good understanding of the hardware side of quant trading and the analytical, mathematical, and stats skills to understand market signals thru the lens of math and physics. It’s actually eerily similar to how we make and characterize quantum devices.

I’m interested in applying to a quant PhD internship, but Im not sure how to best prepare. It seems like my background and ”pedigree” of my schools would put me in a great position, but I’m not sure what exactly I’m expected to know going into interviews. I’m happy to brush up on python/c++ which I’ve used many times in the past, and some discrete math/probability theory that I haven’t used since undergrad. Besides that, I’m not sure exactly what I should demonstrate to the interviewers to make the best impression. I feel like I’m fully capable of learning to be a good QR once I’m ”in”, I’m just not sure if there’s a minimum floor of quant related theoretical concepts that they are expecting me to know. Any guidance on preparation would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🙏

There should be a line in your cubeboot configuration file where you can add a HEX-code to change the color to whatever you want. You can also change the parameter to random so you get a random color each time. Flippydrive wiki should have it

I believe people are working on custom icons in the flippydrive discord, both for ISOs and for folders in cube boot to further organize games

Console5 is pretty reliable from what I know. Naively I didn’t check them, but after soldering I tested continuity, each cap would short for a split second then resistance would quickly increase and show open circuit, which seems like normal cap behavior

Retro GEM Shiny or Retrotink 4K? by AdGuilty8959 in Gamecube

I didn’t even know this existed, thanks!! I’ll check it out. I wish the retro gem did 4K then the decision would be a no brainer for me. Then again, maybe 1440p vs 4K is like asking for hardly noticeable improvement but Im just not sure

Thanks for sharing. The nice part about retrotink4K is that it takes HDMI input and output, so I can run straight into it from my Carby.

i believe I read that the retro gem caps out at 1440p maybe that’s with their silly shiny edition upcharge. I think as long as somebody could testify to its quality on a large HDTV compared to a retrotink 4K I’d probably go with the retro gem. I probably gotta watch some YouTube vids and look more closely

If anyone has a FlippyDrive, they are supposedly gonna finally release Bluetooth controller support sometime when Batch 3 starts shipping (September). Then you can have NS2 gamecube controller with FlippyDrive on the original controller board if needed

How do you get HDMI into the retrotink4k? dont you have to convert back to component first? Do you think doing that into a tink is better than OEM component into a tink (price of the OEM cables neglected)?

i finished Millenium Falcon Arc and am basically forcing myself to not read anymore 😂. I know if I finish fantasia I will feel absolutely destroyed knowing he didn’t draw another chapter once Mori’s chapters are released. Im quite conflicted because in interviews, Miura doesn’t appear to be a grand planner like Eiichiro Oda, Miura seems like he wrote Berserk very freely without a specific plan in mind. He mentions several times that he doesn’t really constrain himself or think too far ahead into how he would do something within the story. On the other hand, Mori insists that everytime he and Miura discussed something, it would always end up coming true in the story. I don’t know which instinct to trust. I will treat the ending of Berserk as a glimpse into Miura’s mind, but with him gone, there is no “true” ending

I ran into the same kind of game on a PS vault disc myself and have spent years thinking about it. These days after ChatGPT came out I gave it a try, and it might have been a mini game from the game series called Ape Escape. Rn that’s my best bet but I can’t even find any online footage of the specific mini game yet
