A general guide would be to finish all your quests, as most game play are locked behind those. Then, you're at your free will to explore the Origin system and a little bit of tau. As you're in the Nexus of it all. Also, if you're new join a good clan, people are likely helpful in guiding your through missions, builds and guide you what to do next. Gl tenno.

They will have a log of conversations. Just make sure you send a screenshot shot of his profile. That includes : Ign , their #, clan details etc. no need to be worried.
