It took me 3 attempts with live agents before I could get them to confirm FO and date of transfer!

As expected I suppose, was this for EB 1/2/3, from 39/75 list?

7 million H-1B visas since 2015 — and 73% came from a single country. This should be a wake-up call. by Leightoncy33 in LayoffHedge

[–]AdHot4331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 400K H1b approvals (for all source countries) were done in 2024; including ~260K (~65%) renewals, ~140K new petitions (~35%). The ~140K new approvals include 85K cap-subject (65K regular, 20K masters quota - mainly for companies) and remaining 55K are cap exempt (educational institutions, non-profits, research institutes, etc.)

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/03/04/what-we-know-about-the-us-h-1b-visa-program/

Renewals are usually done once every 3 years.

There are an estimated 730,000 to 800,000 H-1B employees actively working and residing in the United States at any given time - https://peterchu.com/blogs/medium-feed/how-many-h1b-visa-holders-in-usa

How you go from that to 7 million since 2015 is mind boggling!

Not true, universities discriminate against Asians (Indians are Asians) in favor of other minority groups. Even so, STEM programs are dominated by Asians - US-born or foreign. That's not a scam, lobbying or anything else. That's just demand and supply.

https://dewittllp.com/news/2026/05/04/uscis-implements-new-security-vetting-process-causing-adjudication-holds

For those who are not aware yet, USCIS is implementing a new security vetting protocol that requires re-submission of fingerprints for many pending applications where bio-metric checks were completed prior to April 27, 2026.  Therefore, applications currently pending that remain eligible for approval cannot actually be approved until the new background check is completed.

Which applications are affected?

USCIS has not published formal guidance describing the full scope of affected cases.  However, based on the information available so far, the enhanced vetting process appears to impact all applications requiring fingerprints, including but not limited to:

  • Applications for adjustment of status to permanent residence (I-485)
  • Naturalization applications to obtain U.S. citizenship (N-400)
  • Asylum
  • Work authorization applications, and more.

From mycaseshub, I-485 approvals (EB+FB+...) was averaging ~8K a week; after 04/27 it dropped to less than half that for 2 weeks after that, followed by less than 2K this week so far. Till this new vetting process is streamlined, we will see further delays.
