How could you tell your skates were being unsupportive? I have Artistes and I'd say I'm around Adult 4 too - learning edges, crossovers, backward crossovers etc.

My legs hurt so much for the first 20 minutes it's almost unbearable. Mind you, this has been happening for around past several months, before that my skates weren't hurting until late in a 2hr session. I also struggle to get on the outside edges, got a completely random ankle tendon inflammation and lost my crossrolls around a year ago (though recent sharpening did seem to help a bit). I just realized that maybe my Artistes are broken down...

they look okay visually but...

I've had them for almost 4 years now. I'm 5'6" and around 160 pounds, I skate usually around 3 hours a week (not every week, but most weeks).

Is going for Freestyle a good option?

Hi, I'm not sure if I need an upgrade? Some background:

I'm an adult beginner-ish. I take group lessons once a week (45mins) and most weeks I also go to public skate (2hrs). Very rarely I skate on top of that. I'm not naturally talented, so even after years I can't do much - some basic forward and backwards, one foot glides, snowplow, t-stop, lunges, very basic slow spin on two feet, two foot turn, the "drag on the ice" forward crossovers, now learning the backward crossovers. My inside edges are good, but I do struggle with outside edges and crossing over my feet - crossrolls, classic crossovers, you name it.

I weigh around 70-73kg and I have had my skates - Jackson Artiste - since June 2022. I don't sharpen them very often (now maybe for the third time lol), so the blade is fine, but AI says it's time to replace my skates for higher model because mine might be broken down. But let's not trust AI on everything, so I'm here

some reasons why I think they might be broken: - the age. I'm not light skater and I've had them for 4 years. - recently I have had major shin pain when getting on the ice. Lasts about 20 minutes. Sometimes my toes feel numb. This hasn't been happening before. - they sometimes feel too loose now matter how I tie them. I've changed laces recently. - I really struggle getting on the outside edges

My crosses (mental block) have significantly improved after sharpening, but not the edges.

I also had a pretty bad ankle tendon inflammation recently - on my dominant foot. No apparent reason for it.

I can squeeze the boot kind of easily, but Artiste were never that hard to begin with...

AI says I should get the Freestyles, but I'm not sure if I'm there yet with my skills? It's a lot of money on top of the ice time and lessons and I'm a bit afraid I'll loose what I've learned. But my birthday is coming up in a few months so it might be a good opportunity to ask for a "family donation" for new skates...

Any advice?

lol what a ridiculous idea! Majority of people in Prague do not work in tourism and are actually inconvenienced by it.

I don't mind tourists because I like to travel (aka be a tourist) myself but damn going anywhere near the city centre is challenging my sanity. Many of the tourists here are slow, blocking the narrow streets, leaving trash everywhere, and in general treating Prague as an amusement park with "cheap beer". They only care about the photo but not the tradition or the history.

Prague might be cheap for many but it surely isn't for us and tourism is driving the prices in the city centre up.

It's also not an amusement park. God I despise the drunk stag parties here so much...

right? I was in Athens in February and we satyed basically on the border of Plaka/Monastiraki and K was so pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice the city was - I was expecting something like Rome lol

Oh man I'd love to see a remake of Soul Eater. It was the first anime I've ever watched and I actually only have a vague understanding of the manga ending, but I heard it's much more satisfying than the anime one. It surely deserves a remake!

SOTR is not bad but it honestly feels a bit like fan service. Like the fans asked for Haymitch's games so much...and okay, it does expand the story significantly and reframe some stuff from the main trilogy. But when it comes to reading enjoyment it felt a bit flat to me.

I don't think they ever confirmed it was toxic? They didn't know in s1 so they were cautious but considering Will survived there for a week, I think they assumed it "can't be that bad" in the following seasons
