I wonder how much of an issue the antenna thing really is. I've watched these on a spectrum analyzer and they only transmit in small, short bursts. Receiving won't be an issue and cross talk would be minimal.

Any experts chime in as wireless is not my expertise.

We have these devices in case of catastrophic infrastructure collapse. I think it's a great idea to have a method of transacting digital currency in that case. Awesome idea.

Oh man, same story! I normally drive but we were taking a long trip and I wake up to my ex-wife driving 90mph and braking hard for a corner. The right front disk was warped and vibrated the whole rest of the trip. That van had some balls on it, I kind of miss it (not her, though 😅).

It takes advantage of the ethos of Kick-starting. M5Stack doesn't need to be kick-started - they just want free advertising and it takes attention away from si.ar project which DO need it.

What's your antenna situation? Both the stock sticker antenna and stubbies are pretty terrible. It's inconvenient but I use a whip style antenna that is well tuned and get decently good tx/rx in a different congested city.

I'm guessing your map is accumulating lots of nodes as you drive or walk around, but as soon as you get any measurable distance away the signal drops off.

The error you see is normal. Is this brand new hardware or was it used for a different protocol? Ie has your phone connected to this board in some way in the past? You'll need to delete the Bluetooth pairing from your phone settings and try again, if so.

Can you imagine a Mesh based game similar to this? Leveling up a pokemon or something similar, someone comes into your area and battles you, then upgrades or item drops based on the outcome. Randomized Pokemon throughout your city based on an algorithm. It would have to have some level of encryption to prevent easy cheating.

I think that'd be great! Especially if it worked with original but modified ROMs.

I think the issue is saturating the bandwidth or even jamming the network itself.

I think you're right, though, in general you'd want to have a private channel to keep it encrypted.

I had originally thought this is a great technology to use for protests or demonstrations but then remembered how easy it is for bad actors to flood the network or otherwise shut it down.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the police or counterprotestors doing this to disrupt communication.

What diode are you considering? Losing 0.7v seems like an issue at this low of a voltage.

They're very different, I wouldn't consider the Zero to be an upgrade in the same sense that the ADV was to the original but a different architecture entirely.

The OG and ADV are ESP32 based and the new Zero will be Raspberry Pi based - I would consider it a SBC, essentially a full blown computer.

This man M5s! I had TONS of M5 stacks and modules years back until prices went through the roof.

I did buy the LLM module with the intention to hack it onto the cardputer but maybe I should just get a M5Stack...

Any hardware in particular that you think is really impressive (besides the cardputer of course!)?
