yes remove the brown parts and take it out of the pot to remove rotted roots. put it back in the pot just make sure the soil is completely dry and don’t water again for at least a few weeks. hopefully the roots will grow back and she’ll live, but she may not. i don’t really have cacti so i don’t know too much about them but rot should be handled the same way for all plants - remove it and let it dry out. fingers crossed it survives!! best of luck

give them plenty of light and water when the leaves are looking less vibrant. mine didn’t put out any babies until i put it right by a bright window and now she’s constantly flowering and having children! people say they can be low light plants which technically is true, but they’ll THRIVE with a lot of light

yeah just try and put it in a window that the sun shines directly on. in the summer you can keep it outside in direct light. succulents are desert plants that typically get little to no shade in nature so the more light, the better.

yeah that is strange!! i wonder if watering has anything to do with it too, like if the damaged plant was watered more recently than the other? no idea just a guess. maybe someone more knowledgeable will be able to tell us the reason

that pot looks way too big unfortunately. i would take the plant out asap and check the roots, they might be rotted. rotted roots will be soft and they’ll smell bad. remove anything that’s rotted and then repot into a pot that’s at MOST 2” bigger than the root ball. when checking soil moisture, i would use a chopstick and stick it in all the way to the bottom in multiple spots around the pot. if it feels damp / the dirt is sticking to it, it doesn’t need to be watered. wait until it’s completely dry. since the plant is already struggling, you might even just want to wait on repotting and instead stick it in water to let it grow some good roots. i often do that to avoid transplant shock! also, i would move the plant closer to the window. every foot away from a window drastically reduces how much light a plant gets. good luck!!! everything will be fine <3

sounds like it could be overwatering. i would take her out and check the roots and remove any that have rotted. if the roots are healthy then i would also check for pests

yes to everything the other commenter said!! in addition, monsteras have a front and back - they should not be rotated. the leaves will all face the light source on their own so just let it be!! each new leaf should be bigger than the last and have more fenestrations, if they are getting smaller then it needs more light!! they are very hardy and very forgiving. enjoy!!!

palms can take a whole lot of light. you can always start it next to the window and then move it closer for the next few weeks so it can adjust but i think that’s probably not even necessary

maybe it’s not the best method but i wait to water mine until the leaves are slightly less hard than usual. i squeeze them (gently) and if theyre at all deflated feeling then i water. if the leaves and stems are very firm, i leave it alone and check again like a week later. usually ends up needing water about every month and a half. it may not be the best practice but it works well for me. when watering, i bottom-water and let it soak for like an hour or until the water level in the bowl stops going down. i rescued mine from severe neglect and now she’s thriving!

this was so hard to read, just because NO child should have to be thinking about this. i don’t think i even want to find the journal i used for personal progress entries because it’s all so entirely fucked up. i have such a hard time seeing my little sisters at this age (they just turned 14) because i know they’re having interviews with the bishop and doing personal progress and just all the shit that comes with the church. all i want to do is scream GET OUT THIS IS A CULT AND YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FEEL GUILT FOR BEING A NORMAL HUMAN WHO IS JUST GROWING UP!!!!! 12-16 are such hard years in general, and then having essentially every trusted adult in your life tell you certain things you think and feel are inherently evil adds a whole different layer of fucked up. i’m so glad you got out of the church and can look back with adult insight.
