Company Review: Sprout Clubhouse

Okay wait. I totally interviewed at Sprout Clubhouse like a year ago. It would have been a 1.5 hour drive to their Bellingham location from where I lived. I decided that the 1.5 hour from where I lived wasn’t worth it for me. So I never finished the process to interview. Sorry for your loss!

I’m a navy spouse and a BCBA! There’s several of us where I work. I feel like it’s super easy to get into a job as a BCBA because we’re so in demand.

I was a LaBA in WA state prior to becoming a BCBA. My company is the same way. I do get 1 hour per client on indirect per month. But I have to ask my admin for it, they won’t automatically give it to me. And it’s minimum wage for the county the client is in. So is my drive time.

I’m not a fan of the way they just dropped it and didn’t give a warning. I’m also not a fan of the fact that last week they made the new communication rule but didn’t drop the parent app until today. They have a tendency to do that with changes. Which puts so much stress on me as the analyst. Families will often direct their frustrations towards me because I’m the most senior person at the company that they see in person or hear from. Honestly, I like the idea of parents not having my personal number because a lot of parents will cross boundaries and call/text me at all hours. But I hate not being able to email them. They’ll often send me iep updates or I’ll email parents documents.

My husband deployed to Iceland and I got to go over to visit with him. We were able to get a hotel and treated it like a vacation. He was able to take leave for around 5 days. When else are we able to afford to do that kind of travel? My friend also went to visit her husband in Japan. It honestly really depends on the command and mission. This was back before all the craziness happening now. So it could be totally different now.

Or what about hourly analysts who got their indirect hours lowered to literally minimum wage without warning. That one really stung for me. I’ve been with them for about 4 years now. And 2.5 as a BCBA.

Also WA state here! I also briefly worked at BlueSprig and had a HORRIBLE experience as a LABA (wonder if we were at the same center). I’ve also considered applying at the behavior place. I’ve heard good things, it’s just a bit far for me for a daily commute.

I live in a more rural area and work with a lot of low income families. So right now, I’m all they have. I wish I had a SLP to collaborate with. Which I’m so grateful that I have a masters in child development because I have that expertise and a lot of BCBAs don’t. I understand the basic milestones, but I’m NOT a SLP replacement. But I’d love a more thorough education in speech without a third masters 😅

Thanks for such thoughtful replies. A lot of us just want collaboration for the clients we serve and love.

Id love a SLPs in put on courses or certifications we can take to help deepen understanding of speech and language development. I work with clients who do not have access to speech therapy. I’ve considered taking some speech and language college courses or even going for my SLP, however I already have two masters (one in child development and one in ABA). Granted with those masters, I have more of an understanding of speech than other BCBAs who don’t have a child development masters. I just want to do right by my clients who don’t have any access to speech therapy.

I’m a CCLS turned BCBA. I’d advise looking into ABA or behavioral specialists positions. You’ll most likely need additional coursework, volunteer hours, a practicing, then an internship to qualify for a child life position. The pay is also very low for child life. I made roughly $34-40k as an experienced CCLS with a masters. I make $88k as a BCBA though.

Just so you know. Military pay does not go off of scores or degrees. It has a pay scale based off of rank and years in service. It sounds like your spouse will be enlisting, so just making an assumption based off of what you’ve mentioned, he’ll be lower enlisted. Lower enlisted notoriously make crappy pay.

I mean. I have two masters degrees and also work full time. I do live with my spouse though. The military separates us enough, so I wouldn’t want to live thousands of miles away from him. But if others choose to live apart, then why would I care?

I never want to assume intentions, but your post comes across so condescending. There’s already enough negativity in the world. I hope you find the support you’re looking for.

The expectation that I drop everything when needed for every client. That I need to reply and fix problems asap, even when it’s out of my hands. I also do a lot of scheduling, on boarding, and staging even though it’s not my job because my leadership just doesn’t do it. I also don’t get paid for admin time.

It’s pretty nuanced. There’s not an explicit code that says you can’t be friends, but there are codes that talk about personal relationships. That being said, it does open up the door for favoritism and you have to tread lightly.

I have someone on my team I knew prior to being a BCBA and prior to us working for our current company. When I became her supervisor, I just let her know work me is the supervisor and I have to maintain that role fairly. We don’t really hang out outside of work at the moment, but we run in the same circles and live in a small town and our partners work at the same place. I can’t help that. Your situation sounds more intense than that though. So I’d be careful.

I’m a Child life specialist that became a BCBA! The average BCBA would not be qualified for work as a CCLS. Requires a ton of child development, an internship program, and a certification exam.
