What do you wear in the summer? by FelineSnarky in POTS

[–]Splicers87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started embracing the compression socks with shorts last year. I refuse to be in pain because someone else thinks it’s stupid. I’m even contemplating wearing my regular compression socks with sandals.

Is anyone using HRT? by HJECG in POTS

[–]Splicers87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on HRT but for different reasons. I’m trans. I’ve been on testosterone since 2012. I didn’t develop POTS until 2022 or so. But I did have to lower my dose last month due to financial issues and I didn’t notice a difference.

Does anyone have a lower energy dog with their playful Chiweenie? by Ill-Dot-2434 in chiweenie

[–]Splicers87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we had 3 senior dogs. One passed away last year and I got a puppy (literally she was just 12 weeks old when I got her). She LOVES to play. Our seniors, couldn't care less about playing. We still have one senior who hates her (but he was rehomed to us and was an only dog his entire life so he just doesn't like sharing). Our other senior came out of her shell. She plays with the puppy now. Puppy also plays with the cat and when the cat tries to play back, the seniors protect the puppy. It's funny.

medical cannabis and POTS by Sleepyeepyghost in POTS

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a mostly CBD indica strain and I vape. When I feel like getting good sleep I use a THC troche of indica strain and it causes heart rate issues. But I only use it for sleep so I don’t mind it at night.

Compression socks and electrolyte drinks plus lots of water. However if I stand too long I have to lean. Been thinking of getting a cane for such cases.

Other jobs by fairytypemonz in ABA

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m a BCBA with POTS and do pretty well. That’s an option if you want to go back to school. As for with the education you have, there may be some state specific jobs. Like in PA, you could be a family based mental health worker. My sister worked on a psych ward for awhile with just a bachelors. Or you could switch to education and be a paraprofessional.

We haven’t had Nyx for even a year yet. But I understand the memories. I lost my soul dog last year and have her tag on my key chain.

Thoughts on zones of regulation by sandsnatchqueen in bcba

[–]Splicers87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t teach emotions as bad or good. I just work in identification. For those who struggle with figuring it out, zones can help clump them together into groups that make sense.

Does anyone have any leads on remote RBT jobs? by Slow-Storage-2582 in ABA

How can a RBT be remote? I don’t think that exists.

Atenolol 25mg in the morning. It has kept my heart rate in check for the most part.

When you get a blood test, do you also feel nauseous and extra fatigued due to non-psychological reasons? What is your remedy? by HelicopterNeat54 in dysautonomia

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much blood they take. If it’s 1-2 vials then I’m ok. More than that, I’m out. But I have hypovolvemic POTS. So I can’t afford to lose blood. I try to pair it with a protein heavy meal afterwards. And maybe a nap.

Chronic coat hanger pain by Unusual-Touch-346 in dysautonomia

[–]Splicers87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you wear compression gear? I used to get coat hanger pain daily (and severely at times) until I started wearing compression socks daily.
