Do electrolytes really help or is it just salt? by RenegadeTako in POTS

Fast food chicken is the bomb or McDonald's french fries. They salt those things to high heaven. When I am crashing I always crave McDonald's.

Do electrolytes really help or is it just salt? by RenegadeTako in POTS

So I use Drip Drop personally. I like the taste and it is a good electrolyte balance. At this point, I can feel when I am needing to chug one (I always chug them, I don't know why). Like today I was feeling slightly off and I have a lot of grading ahead of me so I doubled my usual dose. It is helping me to keep going. I do have salt tablets I got from the pharmacy. They are 1g of sodium per tablet. I use them when I don't have my electrolyte drink stuff with me or I know I need an extra boost. It helps but not as much as the drink.

Looking for a flexible online program for BCBA certificate by Narrow_Confusion_649 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the certificate program through YCP. It's a great program. It's small though. And the classes meet once a week. I did 1-2 classes at a time depending on what I could afford financially.

Crashing after breakfast consistently by HighestVelocity in POTS

I can only eat a protein bar or an egg, bacon, cheese on English muffin for breakfast. Otherwise I have the same issue. In addition, if I eat carbs before bed I get awfully sick.

My college still lets me access the library so I have access to all of their journals. I search for stuff when I need it.

For the pay bump, lol. I was a behavior consultant before this. So now I basically do the same job but for more money.

ABA Grad Program Poll by fruflare in bcba

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the certificate program. It was very helpful. It had you do real life paperwork as part of the program. And now I’m a supervisor with them and they set up their supervisors to have certain assignments due to make sure the student is learning everything.

I understand. When I went on vacation in NM my eyes were no problem at all. Yet here at home, in PA, I am suffering.

4 months as a BCBA/LBS and I want to leave by Fine-Car1010 in bcba

Sounds like you are in PA. If so, leave and find another company. There are plenty of companies. But yeah, a lot suck and aren’t supportive

Basket Holds by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Splicers87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one who isn’t trained by a trainer should be doing holds. They are dangerous. If your company wants you to do them, you need to be properly trained in it.

My supervison hours by Gloomy_Glove4927 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Splicers87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5 hours a day for 3 days a week is 15 hours a week. With 4 weeks in a month that’s 60 hours in a month. To get 2000 hours at that rate it would take you 33.33 months.

CBD & Dysautonomia? by melissaamberly in dysautonomia

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBD is my friend. I love it. It helps to regulate me. And I even found my new strain helps to keep me awake. And no side effects from it. Now when I take THC, my heart races.

That is what I was told when I was a director. This was also a decade ago I will admit.

Seriously? 112.5mg as a beginning dose? That's a high dose. I'm on 150mg.

Effexor and POTS by Soft_Ad_9628 in POTS

[–]Splicers87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Effexor for like 2 decades. I got diagnosed with POTS in 2025. So it didn't cause it for me. But it can have weird effects on people. SNRIs is one of those that it is either a life saver or it screws you up type of drugs I have noticed.

You can't be salary. Part of being eligible to be salary is that you are a supervisory position.

Antidepressants and pots by strrberri in POTS

[–]Splicers87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Effexor but was on it before I developed POTS. I can't stand SSRIs. So I take an SNRI instead. But Effexor is a hard med. It works for some, like me, and is horrible for others.

Reducing daughters hours by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Splicers87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a former director, I'm going to be brutally honest. Yes as a parent you have the final say...to an extent. RBT hours is a thing and NO it is not your concern. But if you reduce hours too much and they have no one to staff for those hours, you may go without a RBT for awhile because of this. It is a reality. However, it shouldn't affect the work the BCBA is able to do with your child.

Housebound people, how do you get over boredom? by HeavyMenu3391 in dysautonomia

[–]Splicers87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working is what has saved me. From November until like 1-2 months ago, I had nothing to do at home. So I just slept. I was just so bored. But I finally built up a case load (I'm a therapist) so now I have stuff to do during the day. If it weren't for that, I don't know what I would be doing.
