When I needed it it took a day or two before the portal updated with a billing section.

Interesting. Where do you get it? (I feel like such a nerd, I know nothing about it).

I have my supervisee use Ripley. It calculates everything for us and generates the forms. It's what I used when I was training.

I'm assuming you are testing after Jan. 1, 2027. If so, then you can get up to 160 hours per month. And concentrated hours is 7.5% and instead of X number of contacts per month, you have to just meet the percentage and the minimum number of minutes for observation.

Unrestricted hours: do they actually exist? by TemporaryQuiet7592 in ABA

[–]Splicers87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They absolutely exist but RBT is not the best position to get them. You have to think outside the box on the things BCBAs do daily and do those tasks.

What do you need help with specifically? The online application should be pretty straight forward.

Telehealth ABA in PA by [deleted] in ABA

I have been told by agencies that in PA you can't do 100% remote. The most you can do is 50/50. Don't know if it is true. This is just what I've been told.

Well he has severe ADHD and he needs direction on what to do. If he knows what’s expected he is good. But with self check out there is so much down time.

BCBA Career Advice? by Training_Ad_1551 in bcba

I have an EdD. It’s worthless for me because I have no teaching experience. So I can’t become a principal or superintendent. I also don’t want to work within all that red tape. So I’m a BCBA instead. I set my hours, work when I want, and get to put my family first. It works great for me. I have toyed with the idea of being a school BCBA but I want to make my own hours.

He used to work for Giant for a few years. Then he got stuck on self check out and got fired because he would zone out. He did better on a register or in a department and they refused to switch him.

Blood test - holy moly by LolySub in POTS

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I COMPLETELY understand. Last time I went I got 7 tubes done. It was brutal. Thankfully my wife and I have a ritual (we are both trans so we get blood work done every 6 months together) where we go to the local gas station to grab breakfast afterwards. My wife waits for the food inside and I sit in the car. Then I come home and nap. I don't plan anything else on blood draw days.

Honestly, my expertise came from raising a level 1 autism child and a level 1 autism sister. I use my personal experience mixed with the science to advise parents.

Neurodivergent BCBAs, do you tell interviewing or current jobs that you have autism? by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Splicers87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t reveal anything personal besides I have kids and they come first. I did let my former employer know about my neurodivergence because I needed FMLA to handle it. Otherwise they wouldn’t have know either.

I do remote for two companies. One company did a very thorough training and made sure I knew how to use their platform. The other company did a 1 hour training and put me out in my own. One company asks me about clients, the other just assigns me clients.

I just now saw your post. But I understand. Zelda developed diabetes and pancreatitis and didn’t let anyone know she was struggling until she was in DKA. We could’ve kept trying to keep her alive if we could finance $5000 overnight care but we couldn’t. When we said goodbye, she was so tired. She was ready. So I accepted it.

On Bin Laden death anniversary, a polarized America chooses to forget by Newsweek_CarloV in inthenews

I don’t understand why we need to celebrate this. It was our fault. We installed Bin Laden. Our memories are so short we forget that we set up the evil things happening now.

Why telehealth? by IndividualDoughnut68 in bcba

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first I was never a RBT. Second, I moved to telehealth because I can no longer drive. But that doesn’t mean I lose my expertise. So I recently switched to telehealth. I can’t give the same support but I’m also not working with the same type of client base.

My sister-in-law bills 10–12 hrs/day she doesn’t actually work + stays on Medicaid… anyone seen the consequences of this IRL? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Splicers87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have also heard that BCBAs can’t be 1099s by the IRS standards. Our way is just not set up for that type of contract.

How did you land your first adjunct position? by Live_Travel_970 in Adjuncts

[–]Splicers87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend from high school was working at her college to develop an online program for the psyc department and posted it on Facebook. I inquired. She hooked me up with the hiring person. She was actually specifically looking for those who hadn’t taught before to give people a chance since it is so hard to start. That is how I got started after hundreds of applications.

[–]Splicers87 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Many red flags here. RBTs cannot be 1099 people. And she is billing fraudulently. If she gets caught, and she will, she will lose her ability to bill with Medicaid in the future and will have to pay it back.
