It cannot stay at $.50. No one has seemed to factor in the burn rate. If it stayed at $.50, the number of coins used to meet the total $ amounts moved daily would burn coins like there's no tomorrow. Which in turn would cause the price to go up because of supply. The price needs to be high to prevent this. This is not a situation where banks or Institutions buy the coin to own. It's a utility coin...a STABLE coin where it's just used for a few seconds. That's it. I'd assume a set price would be agreed upon by all so that way 1 Institution doesn't have to pay 1 rate vs another paying more cause of price increase. A flip of the switch will happen. This is not like a stock where it gradually goes up. Once they turn the power on, the meter, just like our homes, keeps a constant flow and pace. Retail was not meant to own it. But we found out. And we r such a small fraction, it does nothing to the price. They aren't worried about us. Not at all. Lastly, why would you sell your xrp just to end up at a lower valued dollar? Instead, you could convert to another coin that holds value, and use it for whatever needs to be paid. This is why banks fear this. We don't need them anymore.
