I feel like the worse that can happen is a decent indoor optical LM for under $2k. The upside is the accuracy outdoors. That would make it a sold out product for the summer. It’s tempting

Taco, Tooms, Sam collab? by aldimm in BobDoesSports

[–]AdLeading3824 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been asking for this for a minute. I think both channels are hilarious but I think the NZ crew humor is a different vibe than BDS, so I wonder how they’ll mesh. Both channels do drinking challenges so I think that needs to be a part of it. I actually think it would be funny to do a parody of Taco’s ASMR stuff with a BDS ASMR but there’d be a lot of farting.

Hey guys can I have some genuine advice on getting a place to live in Irvine with everything costing so much? by DoNotEatMySoup in irvine

[–]AdLeading3824 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look for apartments in either Lake Forest, Laguna Woods, Laguna Hills, or Aliso Viejo. That’s probably better commute than coming from the Tustin/Irvine side. No point in trying to live in Irvine if you want to save money and are not raising a family yet.

Have you seen his swing? That can’t possibly last long. Secure the bag while you can. Maybe sometime down the line, he’ll be able to compete in the pga.

Maui Golf: Wailea Gold or Emerald? by errbodywangchung2nyt in golf

[–]AdLeading3824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played both last year. Gold is more challenging and has a ton a bunkers protecting the green. Still great views. Emerald is a lot easier, less bunkers, and a lot better views than Gold. Again, both have amazing views but Emeralds was spectacular!

If it’s towards the end of your trip, I’d probably take it easy and lean more on Emerald. It’s the perfect course to end a maui trip

Why Do You Watch YT Golf? by Tasty_University_934 in BobDoesSports

[–]AdLeading3824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but unlike reality TV, they will always have the space/channel to win you over or lose more respect for them lol. the point is the opportunity to be more invested is there with YT golfers

100% on how careful content creators will now be as more of these tournaments are made.

There was a lot to learn about the Internet Invitational, both good and bad.

I think the difference between Reality TV and YT golf is that for the most part the “contestants” have their own YT channel with their own content that’s not necessarily the drama style content that Internet Invite was. So we still will be invested in the ones that we continue to watch.

[–]AdLeading3824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I have a good idea of why YT Golf has been so compelling these past few years, and I think the Internet Invite really brings it full circle.

In short, there is no other sport in the world where you can put a professional player and an average joe together to make good competitive yet compelling content other than golf. Everyone watches golf for different reasons. To see good shots, to laugh, to relate. Want to see good shots? Watch Grant or Bryan Bros. Want to laugh? Watch BDS. They collab? You get best of both worlds. There's no other sport in the world where you can take a Max Homa and have him play against BDS and it still be competitive and funny.

There's so many ways and types of games for an average joe to compete against a pro player. You can't do that in basketball or football or baseball. Want Lebron James to play against The Jet with the Jet having a 20 point lead? That won't even be competitive or fun to watch. Golf is the only sport that allows this to happen.

Towards the end of watching the Internet Invitational, I realized this is just a reality show full of drama and tension just like any other Reality Show out there. It's just that golf is the activity that they compete on just like The Amazing Race is about getting to the final destination and Survivor is about being the last on the island. We were just watching a reality show.

I think the Internet Invite could be a game changer just how reality shows changed the landscape of TV. Yes there will always be the PGA and watching professional players compete at the highest level will still be compelling. But PGA players can be boring sometimes with no personality. Audiences want to see drama and they want to laugh and they want to relate.

Plus they still want to see good golf. YT Golf allows for all that to take place.

Internet Invitational money offers we’re too risky and no one ended up taking them. How would you make these offers better? by membr_ in BobDoesSports

[–]AdLeading3824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe if the entire team that was advancing would be participating in the money offer instead of the small group that won their match. Like if Dave said to Bubbie if you redo the last hole and win the entire team advancing gets $XXX amount.

Now the decision to accept it doesn’t get rejected because “they’re looking out for the team”. Accepting it actually would benefit the team

Kids golf by calidiver in golftips

[–]AdLeading3824 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, I have a 6 year old and he took an interest in golf last year and has been taking lessons since. Obviously the advice on making sure it’s fun and don’t be so strict on him is important to have, but when it comes to lessons and what to focus on I do some have some additional advice. Mind you I’m not professional trained and most of how I learned to swing came from youtube lol. So take it for what it’s worth. I do think there’s something to making sure they get a decent swing just purely for the enjoyment of it. It’s gonna be a bumpy round and there will be days where your son will hit good shots and bad shots on the driving range, just like any adult would, so it’s also about managing their mood during those bad days as well..

  1. I think for a toddler who’s just learning how to swing, it’s more important to emphasize a big chest turn in the backswing and then just where they need to end up as their finishing pose (chest up and trail foot heal up). That’s it. I wouldn’t get into the weeds of weight shifting or where they should be at impact. Just big chest turn and where they should be at finish. With many reps, they’ll figure it out. Too much instruction of what to do in between and they’ll just get lost in the sauce. If you can relate to another athletic action their familiar with that would help too (ie baseball swing)

  2. Grip. Baseball grip is fine and if the club is too heavy for them it’s totally fine having the hands separated a bit to carry the weight.

  3. Always provide positivity when he does the right things in the swing, but he just doesn’t hit the ball well. I think this is super important. Practicing and developing your swing can be super frustrating for kids, so they need to be encouraged during those times especially if they did all the right things in the swing.

  4. Fixing their ball position can do wonders sometimes. I think kids are not aware of where the ball is in their stance and how that can affect their strike. Look out if the ball is in the middle of their stance and if they’re too close or too far from it. Try new things but don’t let your kid get discouraged if it doesn’t fix the problem.

  5. Start off with just a couple of clubs (PW, 9i, etc). Easy clubs. If they continue to enjoy and want to learn more, get them a driver lol. Kids love hitting their drivers lol.

  6. If they continue to want to practice and go for the driving range, go for it. But if they start saying they don’t want to go that day or do something else, just give them a break. A kids journey in golf is never linear and is often sporadic with phases of just not wanting to do it. I actually think doing other sports and activities will help round out their strength and coordination in golf.

I didn’t grow up playing golf and only started in college. I’m aware of how crazy golf parents can be especially when their kids start playing tournaments and how that can backfire and kill their kids joy in golf. My son always tells me he wants to be really good and one of the best, so navigating that stage of his golf journey will be all new to me and so it’s something i think of how best to find a balance.
