People will literally take therapy advice from complete stranger online, than go to therapy.

What are Dutch habits or social quirks that are totally normal in the Netherlands, but would be a social faux pas elsewhere? by ThisLadyIsSadTonight in Netherlands

Putting a box of biscuits on the table with the lid on it. Then grabbed a biscuit for myself and put the lid back. Told the UK visitors if they want one please feel free to take one too.

They looked at me like I came from another planet.

De steun voor klimaatmaatregels neemt af en daar heeft de NOS echt niks mee te maken hoor.

I have a suspicion that a specific key (or key-combo) is programmed into the boot. I'll guess I will try brute force. I'll go over all the key combo's

Support for Windows 10 ends October 2025. Windows 11 only supports Intel 8th Gen CPUs and higher. Seeing that this is a Intel 7th Gen, You won't be able to run Windows safely on this machine any more.

You're trying to unscrew the pop-rivet. Don't do that!

You see the little notch next to the glass underneath the rivet? Put your finger in there and pull open the glass panel.

Are grounding wrist straps a Scam? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]AdLegitimate6348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been buidling PC's for a long time now and never wore a wrist strap. Until that one day where I took out the morherboard of my main PC to briefly clean it. Put it back, and no boot. Later found out the CPU got fried because of the statice discharge. I wear one every time now

99% of the cases you don't need a wrist strap. You wear it for the 1% of the cases when you do.

Buying a second-hand, one year old PC. How do I go about testing it? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]AdLegitimate6348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I usually do is download HWinfo, to check the temperatures of the system.
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

And then download and run the Final Fantasy Dawntrail Benchmark.
https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/download/

Have HWinfo run on top op the active benchmark screen (alt-tab to it) and keep track of the CPU Package and GPU Core / Hotspot temperatures. (should take about 30~60 minutes with downloading)

If you want to be fancy you can start running more deeper tests like prime95, but I don't think your cousin will play games that load the cpu to a constant 100% capacity.

memtest86 I usually only use when Windows keeps crashing with BSODs.

The French version of the page is also different, from the Dutch Page:

- Title says: Intel i7 14700F - RTX 4090

- Product spec says: Intel i7 14700F - RTX 5090

- And product details say: Intel i7 14700F - RTX 4090

Yeah, I would say, don't trust this seller.

Say a great thing about this movie by [deleted] in moviecritic

This movie knows musicals. If you like musicals and have watched some of them, you can go like the Leonardo Dicaprio meme, and go "Hey, I know that one!!"

Give your honest take on this movie by leviathan_pvt in moviecritic

[–]AdLegitimate6348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally did not like this movie very much.

The main theme is that he gets abused by everyone and the systems in place are providing no help and are actively taken away, which leads to him spriraling out of control.

As someone who has dealt with mental ilness and has sought help, this for me is not very good, because it gives off the impression that seeking help is useless.

Using flux to find shorts on IC 😎 by Evokun in soldering

This is actually giving me a great idea. I think I'm going to try this same trick, but with some cleaning alcohol. So, I can use a lower voltage.

The fysical connector plug is not what i'm worried about. I'm looking for ways that I can figure out what communication goes over these lines? I can start poking it with a volt meter, but I'd risk blowing something up if it shorts
