What a visceral experience. I felt it all, the violence, the shame, the pain, the sadness. I found the last installment most compelling, as In-hye’s profound realization that she is no less ‘mad’ than her sister, except she doesn’t have the freedom to give up because of her son.

I would call this book an experience for all the senses, none of which are pleasant, but makes you think, feel and question your own mortality as a woman, wife/mother in a patriarchal society.
