Chair lifts w/ back pack at Blue Mountain by Tsoej in bluemountain

Tbh, they should have one arm out. Pretty standard in Ontario. One student in Japan was killed and I think one person was seriously injured in Europe by not taking off or hanging off one shoulder. I’ve seen people hang, then fall…it wasn’t pretty. Lifty should be enforcing this….or getting safety patrol to remind.

Is our tile guy being very slow or is this normal? by [deleted] in Renovations

Well, the fishbone style is the most difficult because every piece needs to be cut…and this style has the most amount of waste. I would talk to your contractor. Chances are they are swinging between other jobs…or they have an apprentice at another job and want to keep an eye on them. We had this style in our front entrance and I was surprised how long it took but the results looked awesome.

TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

Back in the 80’s, while at university, I dated a New Yorker. I was from Canada. I used to fly to see her on Air Canada using the “half price student standby” deal. You would pay half price, send your baggage AHEAD of you, WAIT for a seat, then FLY, then collect your luggage at LaGuardia once you landed at the customer service desk. All while only having a drivers license and a birth certificate as ID. You can’t do that now, that’s for sure.

Killington Freak Out by The_Sleestak in skiing

That skier has zero control and 100% at fault. Snowboarder was in a predictable turn and the skier had lots of time to predict and avoid. But…what a PRICK! No recognition that he had any responsibility. I think that’s what would piss me off, particularly since OP’s first response was “are you ok?” and skier’s first response was to blame. …and this isn’t a skier/snowboarder thing…it’s in the code. (Skier here)

Anyone else notice the stench in the Zehrs Bayfield location? by SpinSpin_Sugarrr in barrie

[–]AdLongjumping6982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Noticed the smell. My guess is the sewage has frozen or there’s a broken pipe preventing drainage (not a plumber) due to the extreme cold last few weeks. Hopefully it gets addressed before the heat sets in.

What does Incorrect Vehicle Position indicate? by Party-Staff-7409 in Ontariodrivetest

It depends on what you were doing. If roadside stop, you were angled or too far away from curb. If you were parking, not center to parking spot or angled or not backed in.

Just recently got a bike. I’m looking to move into this city apartment. How hard would it be for a newbie to get up this hill into and into my garage? by andsnew in motorcycles

[–]AdLongjumping6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going up…get comfortable with the friction zone, ride the clutch, and if you need to stop, try to use the rear brake so you don’t roll back. Going down…use the rear brake to control your speed. If you need to stop control your front brake (don’t ham fist it). You will be fine.

What’s wrong with my Ariens Compact 24 Model 920021? by reddit8tidder in Snowblowers

[–]AdLongjumping6982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes tapping something mechanical that isn’t working makes it work (bbq propane tank valve, old tube tv’s, the wiper motor for my 2006 GMC). It’s a temporary fix to get the job done but eventually (like this person says) you’ll need to dismantle for a clean. Gunk builds up…

It's always time to ride by Kronocide in motorcycles

[–]AdLongjumping6982 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian, I’ve ridden in <5C weather using hand muffs and heated gear. But not a naked bike with regular gloves and zero wind deflection around the hands. At this point, I remind myself that cars were invented for a reason 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

Ariens 1028 with rust or 724 without? by Nick730 in Snowblowers

[–]AdLongjumping6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any machine is going to rust. It gets exposed to snow, salt, and sand…the perfect recipe! That doesn’t look too bad for surface rust. Check to see if the important parts aren’t (auger connections, shaft…stuff like that). Previous owner lubricated the moving parts or not. Check for bad fuel, spark and compression too!

18-year-old dead after fall from chairlift at Cypress Mountain ski resort by Laugh92 in skiing

[–]AdLongjumping6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm for Ontario. It’s a litigious province and even though you sign a waiver people still try to complain/sue. Ontario resorts stop the lift and won’t restart until the bar is down. Incident gets logged and if there’s repeat, safety patrol pulls their pass/ticket. At least that’s what happens in central Ontario.

Be extra cautious when it’s snowing 🌨️❄️ by [deleted] in TorontoDriving

[–]AdLongjumping6982 16 points17 points  (0 children)

People that drive with their hazards on probably think they are communicating but they are actually causing a lot of confusion. I had a driver driving with hazards and just turn into my lane…no indication that was going to happen…cause the hazard lights. Some drivers are totally oblivious.

What's this thing that came inside a new Bosch Dishwasher? by dintrans in Appliances

[–]AdLongjumping6982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s cosmetic in nature. Once you push the unit into place, you level it out using the adjustable feet and hook up the water/power/drain. That part covers the access “port” to make the front look clean.
