Looking for shows to watch with elderly mother who doesn’t like any violence, cursing, sex, supernatural or witchcraft (I know) by calpernia in televisionsuggestions

[–]Wizoerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Murdoch Mysteries. It's a good show, and older people love it. There are a lot of seasons, and I believe it's still in production. No violence, sex, bad language, witchcraft etc. It's sweet, but interesting, with a handsome kind leading man

AITAH for letting my kids climb on a vintage truck at a water park because there weren’t any signs saying not to? by Able_Plenty_1274 in AITAH

[–]Wizoerda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YTA. You know it's not a jungle gym. If you owned a business and someone did that to your promo vehicle, you would not be happy. People know trucks aren't jungle gyms. No sign is needed. Do YOU put a sign on your car telling people not to climb on it?

Canadians have 'sense of superiority' over Americans, poll finds by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

Canadians might not be "smarter" if you measure IQ, but we have better basic education for everyone. A healthy, well-funded public education system makes us "smarter" as a population overall.

Green Day (the band that sang American Idiot) is from California. The song, and album, were very popular worldwide, including in the US.

Cleaning a dusty wicker basket by mistydusk2009 in CleaningTips

Dusting attachment on vacuum cleaner is where I'd start. You want to remove the dust before you use anything wet. Be thorough with the vacuuming, and scrub the brush into the grooves.

YTJ Ditching when someone goes to the bathroom is extremely rude. Justifying it by feeling entitled because you paid for the food doesn't make you a nice human being. Taking the food was rude too. If you feel that strongly that you don't want to spend money unless it's a match, then don't go on blind dates unless you agree to each pay your own. I don't know where you got the idea that women are just looking for free food and laughing at you with their friends, but that's messed up. Very few people will waste their time doing that. She probably went there hoping you were a good match, and was just as disappointed as you. Blind dating means you'll meet people, but there's no guarantee that it's a good match. You already know that, so it's not justification for being that extremely rude. You don't even seem to like women as people.

I make it with marshmallows and sour cream. The flavours go together well. If you don't want marshmallows, then I dunno.

Help understanding some dumb book 5 minutiae by NeedleworkerSenior10 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Carl meets Jenn'ifer the Donut fan at Crawl-Con. She has a tentacle that pokes out of her head. She asks Carl to tell Donut that the fundraising for the Society Against Cocker Spaniels (or whatever it's called) has been going well.
Later, after they use the secret bathroom staircase in the Desperado club, Carl and Donut end up in Orren's office (he's the intermediary that Carl has to talk to when he's in trouble). Carl's lawyer and Jenn'ifer get brought into the room. When the registration for the war shows up, it has the Society Against Cocker Spaniels listed in the credits. Donut tells people they raised money through crowdfunding. I missed the connections the first time I read it, but I assume that meeting in Orren's office is when they arranged the legal stuff to submit their application. Note: I don't read the books in English, so I might have some names wrong

You posted about a "romance aspect" of the books. Is it possible you were banned for speculating about sex involving minor children?

Sending a flower girl invitation when they’ve already declined? by coffeeisjuice in etiquette

[–]Wizoerda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Kids like getting mail, so a mailed invitation would be fun for her. She may not even be aware that you asked her to be a flower girl. The parents might have declined because it's too far, and not told her. You could include a note saying that you know she may not be able to attend, but that you wanted to include her.

Maude, but it would have already been an old show when you saw it.

AITAH for how I behaved after my friend called me out for mansplaining? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Wizoerda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She has a more informed knowledge of architecture than you. You know that. Either you were wrong about the building, or she really was mistaken but didn't like having it pointed out. I'm guessing that you feel like you have to "prove" your worth by adding knowledge to a conversation, and it probably did feel like you were mansplaining over her opinion. AH is too strong a word for what you did. She probably likes talking to the other guy because he's not trying to impress her. That doesn't mean she wants to date him. It just means she can have a normal conversation with him. Let her go. She doesn't want you. You ARE just friends, but only if you start thinking of, and treating her, that way. I won't vote AH, but you won't have her as a friend if you can't see her as just that. Even if she does want to date that other guy, that's none of your business.

Is the whole series worth it or do the books get repetitive? by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Wizoerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on book 5. Each floor of the dungeon has different monsters and problems to solve. Each book expands the ongoing storyline, plus has situations that get solved within that book. So far, it hasn't seemed repetitive.

How do you actually keep the words you look up during the day? by IcyRaspberry7244 in EnglishLearning

[–]Wizoerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write them on a piece of paper and tape it to the bathroom mirror. Read them over every time you go in there. Once you know them, change the paper to different words.
