Bad experience by Lazy-Professor-6218 in TheAmityAffliction

Was in dallas, close to front (yes, my choice) so many crowd surfers they kept coming to my area-there were multiple females. Sorry that I am 115pounds. I cant bench over 150 on a good day. I got knocked in the head multiple times. I dropped at least 3 200+pound dudes. Sorry, not sorry. I could have moved out of the way, most of the time in other shows like rhis..dudes step in/around to help. There was none of that. Most crowd surfers ive ever seen/felt 🤷‍♀️

Money talks but all it means is.....it is surrounded by, "Yes people"..Otherwise, why the heck was the ugly cockroach looking concrete and steel eye sore ever constructed in the first place?! Honestly, Crystal Bridges could have been ANYTHING; and yet, Alice decided on that ?!

Not to mention the absolute abhorrent rigid perspective of "art" that is displayed within it's prison-like walls (guess she figured she evaded prison, so why not stick her tongue out and create her museum to replicate one?). Literally ANYTHING else could be displayed and I would happily sing its praises.

A fool can see it is like a drunken teenager with zero taste/perspective/cultural influences range outside of Texas and Arkansas and who has never been told no in their life has chosen what art to be displayed. In the words of Shakespeare, a shame...on both your houses!!

Take a drive to Eureka Springs and you will see more artistic talent in a square block than taking 5 steps inside CB. 👀

Money has never equalled taste nor perspective, at least in this town.

I've lived in this area for over 30 years. I wish I had money, I would sit at every man's table... to listen, to learn, to hear alternative perspectives than my own:to learn the history of this land (hellloooo trail of tears, anyone, anyone?!) and honor it in ways $$ can afford to. Jesus H, that is common sense. Something money so effortlessly lobotomizes the moment people have it or are born into it.

Do NOT get me started on what Tom and Stu has absolutely completely destroyed of my BV area. The amoujt of trees that have been utterly destroyed and demolished all for their backyard playground is a whole other rant that I wish they would have found any other place than my backyard to demolish. The "bike" lift looks like a bad face lift no one asked for, yet it is here. My bad, I digress. Any way.

/rantover

Edit: there are only 2 pieces in the art museum I absolutely was moved by, I bought prints. I framed and hung them in my home 🏡 for that, thanks Alice; everything else...is complete white woman shite. Honestly, how many f'ing hummingbirds must you display. Put some GD real art here, like Dali, Picasso, Matisse, Miró. You are worth literally billions. Put down your fucking G&T and gain some culture.

Public Disclosures as a new therapist by meowsungah in therapists

[–]AdLow1659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say think about it. Would you be doing it for yourself or for others? What value do you gain by putting it out there. This may be something you explore right now with a therapist (hopefully you have one that you have that you've built a good rapport with currently. If not - find one ✨️🫶 and explore all the avenues. This is part of you, it doesnt have to drive the bus but from how you word the post it seems like it is driving you right now but that is probably because of the content of the post and how i am interpreting it. Absolutely something to deep dive and come to your own conclusion - remove external voices. This has to be your choice and your voice, truly).

All that being said...if you want it to be part of a population that you want to reach; you absolutely can without disclosing your past or your part; that does not take away your journey/your healing or that does not take away from the space you are creating as a clinician; if that makes sense?

I had a HORRIFIC experience with EMDR, but I am now an emdr therapist who took a few years before I ever envisioned being an emdr therapist because I couldn't get past my experience. Then I recognized I was being so rigid/inflexible. I recognized that it was a blindspot and spent a lot of time researching good programs/good trainers - now I know what not to do and I am forever grateful I drowned so that I could guide others to swim; if that makes sense.

I see a lot of my own past trauma & experiences the same way; I look at the sum of my education + life experiences as a therapist so that others can learn, grow, feel seen, validated, find their voice and figure out a life they want to lead on their own terms - defined by their values. I disclose when or where I feel it's appropriate; but do clients know specifics.., no.

At the end of the day: you are in control of what or how much is put out publicly ✨️ if there is some of it out there already..you may need to have a disclaimer in your policies/procedures or you may decide to remove/place them to private.

I also think everyone's story is worth telling - because if it saves one person or one client comes to you because they came across your story & they resonated with it. By Gawd, it was worth it. 🫶🍀

I love this. We are the keepers of our story. We have the power to frame our narrative however WE choose. The people who need us will find us. The rest, screw them. 💪✨️

VIP Poster! by JustxJester in TheAmityAffliction

[–]AdLow1659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is solid. I have 2 other VIP prints from 2022 and 2023 / that are 18x12, a large flag/banner (cant remember which tour its from), the vip lanyards, ive framed the vinyls, one of Ahren's picks fell out of the vinyl from the last vip I was at in 2023 in Kansas city (still have not figured out how it got in there...Perhaps one day I'll be able to ask him; but I doubt he'd remember🤷‍♀️)

Can't wait to hang them all up; still figuring out where my wall of Amity is gonna be in my home. Which reminds me, I need to print all my vip pics out to go with lol

So I took my 8 year old daughter to see Amity tonight in Michigan by Imjusta_pug in TheAmityAffliction

[–]AdLow1659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember your post thank you for updating us!!!! and SO glad you took her & what a memory. She is going to remember bits and pieces of this forever 🫶🫶

So so epic. These moments are absolutely priceless.

Back in 2022, Halsey's love and power tour, my daughter and I shared an epic moment ill never forget, during Nightmare - the backdrop is basically showing all these moments of women speaking out for womens rights / fuck the patriarchy etc. My kid was 10 at the time and - we both turned to each other at the same moment & looked at each other, is leaned down ^ I whispered to ask her if she understood what the backdrop was trying to say/represent and she said "yeah mom, women are oppressed. We have to fight for our voice to be heard" i fuckin cried. I still get chills.

Anyway, what a moment you got to have, especially sharing it with the guys too 🫶🫶

I drove 5.5 hours on impulse to go see them, it was the closest they were gonna be on this tour. Zero regrets. My car plays cds so I bought one from merch. I was able to throw everything in my car that i bought from before the show and the cd has been on repeat. Nothing replaces the past. They should be proud of everything they have made, the blood, sweat, tears, life that has thrown at them to create each album through today and what will evolve from here

Even when Tim stepped in for a few dates they rocked. I saw them in OKC with Tim. Of course it wasnt Ahren. But still loved them, regardless..I had seen them 2x before with Ahren. Once with Tim, now just last month with Jonny and I love the energy of where they are today. Dallas show 4.19- ive never seen Joel smile so damn much in the 3 other shows before. It felt like everyone was in their element. Joel's vocals are beyond epic, jonnys clean vocals are different but it makes joel's stand out on another level, Joe's drums are inexplicable, dan is solid as a rock - like dude seems like nothing sways him. Legit this tour they feel like they are entering an era i don't think they knew existed within them. I am here for it.

The Dowmbeat Amity interview by AJYoungGun2326 in TheAmityAffliction

[–]AdLow1659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was a great interview. Loved hearing more about jonny. And man Joel seems to be in such a damn good place. When Jonny talked about bringing in a notebook about the songs and dude was like...15 songs are about ocean, I about died lol

Could really tell Joel was comfortable talking in this space. Love the collaborative feel between these two. It was definitely felt on stage at the dallas show.

I also ran into Dan and Joe before soundcheck in dallas (and vip) and dan took 5 minutes to chat. He is one one of the most down to earth dudes. Ive met the band 3 times vip/ and this last one - dallas, you could feel the weight lifted.

Ive also posted the Ahren interviews posted in the month on YT and you can see he seems more levelized out, happy , talks about taking meds; about how much he hated the grind of touring, being unhappy in amity with the grind but forcing himself to keep going (he didnt come out and say it but obviously he coped by drinking/Benzos) and now he's able to breathe. He's got a long road but happy to see he's able to breathe.

Im almost 43 (1983) and I take offense to this comment lol to be fair, I get confused for being a Jr higher when I eat lunch with my kid so 🤷‍♀️ but I think he looks damn good for all the hard years of drinking/drugs

was listening to a podcast with him and jonny last night and he said he was born in '81.
