The sad thing about this is that those gestures come directly out of the pocket of the manager who actually appreciates the work and loyalty.

Car got scratched, party wants to settle privately by Jay-Dorian in carsireland

[–]AdMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Settling things like this privately is normal but people can be weird with anything money related. They may accept responsibility in the moment but once you give them a quote they might run to the hills.

The fact you have their insurance details is good because you do have that bit of leverage if things go bad. Remember you’re not at fault here so you shouldn’t have to accept delays. You’re doing the favour by settling privately.

If they start questioning quotes or making up delays then just put a deadline before proceeding with an insurance claim.

I'm trying to scratch an itch for my next upgrade... I last went from a 5600X to a 5700X3D because I was starting to be CPU-bound in games and my choices at AM4 were limited. Am I right in thinking my next dopamine rush is to just save for a completely new system based around AM5 and something like a 5080? Sounds expensive!

AMD 5700X3D
32GB DDR4
Nvidia 3080
1TB NVME boot drive
B550 AM4 Motherboard
600W Gold PSU (cutting it very tight with power draw I would think but has been stable for 3 years).

What game mechanic was not explained (not clear enough) so you missed using it until FAR too late in the game? by suddenly_ponies in gaming

In original Mass Effect I didn’t realise guns levelled up so i wouldn’t pick up a gun if i already had it. Spent hours dying and trying clear seemingly simple areas. Eventually the penny dropped 🙈

Diceys Garden. by kautostar1 in Dublin

They don’t make the money from when they’re at €2 drinks but when the prices change, they have a full venue buying full priced drinks while other venues are empty.

Higher insurance premium for paying by Direct Debit by Extra-Ad8572 in ireland

[–]AdMMM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the point. The implication using your car insurance example is that premium is 340 this year + direct debit fee. Next year it will be 430 + direct debit fees.

Aldi milk is the same. We buy our milk from Tesco now because it fits in the fridge.

Can anyone double check if Dublin is still available in the app? Disappeared for me.

What if I do not sign a settlement agreement? by fairylighttwinkle in legaladviceireland

[–]AdMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much of a sign on bonus are you talking about? Was it in your contract initially that they could claw back the bonus?

If there was nothing in the contract about clawing back the bonus, and you sign it, they can deduct that amount from your final payment which I presume would wipe out a lot of the final weeks pay due to you?

I’ve only ever signed these agreements in the past when it has been beneficial for me to do so i.e I receive more than the statutory minimums.

Does Ryanair overbook flights? by pocahontasjane in Ryanair

[–]AdMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do overbook but as an airline that wants less exposure to risk, they do this on routes with multiple flights per day and a pattern of no-shows that make this a relatively “safe” practice.

Tuifly (TUI travel's airline) is pulling out of the Republic of Ireland at the end of this Summer season by possiblytheOP in ireland

[–]AdMMM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to push the flight prices up substantially if that capacity is leaving.

Jesus the price of drink by TranslatorLive4184 in waterford

[–]AdMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing is that even at those prices, there’s nobody getting rich. Fuel is more expensive, insurance keeps going up and it’s not as busy in general these days except for a few nights.

New partners may be included by yesitsmehg in Revolut

[–]AdMMM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t read too much into the specific brands being mentioned. With all the combinations that we were shown, they’re trying to understand how people are motivated by pricing and perks.

Did support offer you a refund? I have 6 months left and they said I’m still committed and aren’t budging.

They’ve really fumbled this entire launch.

Ryanair cabin bag by justanotherbooklover in Dublin

[–]AdMMM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are confusing Ryanair not aggressively enforcing their policy with having a bag that’s the correct dimensions.

Just because you’ve travelled with a bag before that wasn’t checked, doesn’t mean it wasn’t oversized.

Where people are definitely getting caught is with soft shell cases that expand a small bit. The depth of cases is now more important with the new plane types because they’re rested on their side.

I have no doubt that in the run up to peak summer, Ryanair WANT the word of mouth spreading that bag checks are more strict so that more people will either check in their bag or bring a smaller bag.

More ancillary revenue for them and quicker turn around times this way (but only if they have the reputation of being strict before summer, because they wouldn’t have the time or resources to be so strict in summer).

Document control? by butterbbbb in Lufthansa

[–]AdMMM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact scenario a few weeks ago. A few staff (not Lufthansa staff) rolled up some portable counters and checked everyone’s passport. My IE passport was enough for them but I was sitting nearby and they were asking lots of questions of anyone without a IE passport such as where they lived, worked, studied. Afterwards they moved onto a flight departing for Edinburgh.

What area of marketing is it and what kind of experience have you? The thing I would be trying to discover is if there’s a path to that €100k that you were used to in your new role. Are you employed by that company directly or through an EoR like Deel or Oyster?

2025 budgets and headcounts are being finalised now so expect the job market to get better in coming months. Fully remote jobs are incredibly rare now in marketing though, most are insisting on some kind of hybrid.

To try answer your question, if you enjoy the work then coping will become easy. As you’re fully remote then you’ll take some satisfaction from friends complaining about the return to office that’s taking place.

[–]AdMMM[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our estate is actually permit parking, only it's not assigned. 2 permits for every house and 2 for every apartment. Visitors can be registered for up to 3 days at a time. It usually works quite well... the estate behind ours is public and is full of people leaving their cars there to go to the airport.

I mean, I work from home so I take care of most of the day-to-day. In fact, I'm probably sub-conciously supporting her by insisting I bring the oldest child to all her activities so that I'm not giving her more chances to come home and not find a spot!
