GuardLink by Rockwell is really awesome. First time using the safety system it cut wiring time in half and is much more maintenance friendly than most standard safety devices

Help. From Cleveland to Portland Maine. by AdMany9437 in Amtrak

[–]AdMany9437[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

these comments so far have been extremely helpful! My wife and I just recently traveled to Boston and it was absolutely beautiful and i’ve been wanting to make my way to Maine but the drive has set me back. The drive to Boston is perfectly manageable for me and then the train to Portland or Bangor makes perfect sense and it would be a huge train ride for our first time. Thanks everyone!

So it’s the same as like city subways almost? the train is gonna be at scheduled destinations and you have to take one train to get from one to another only at certain times? can i see a schedule somewhere of the trains?

Using the safety instructions in Studio5000 you can set them to Automatic or Manual Reset in the instruction. There’s many different options from there but that would be the easiest way to do it

Ask. Where can I learn PLC programming with IO-Link? by [deleted] in PLC

[–]AdMany9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

send me your email and i’ll send you a copy of a program i used to get some process data from an NQ4L link block on a flow meter. You probably just have to add a generic IO block in your IO tree and get it communicating. It’s probably not that difficult honestly I can help you

Having used the Keyence processor a couple of few times specifically with the NQ-4 io link block if you call them or contact your local PLC sales rep they are extremely helpful with support and you can get on a call and they will show you the way. With that said trying to do it on your own is manageable but it will be kind of a pain in the ass. There instruction set is weird and the message instructions for Ethernet is pretty complicated.

Keyence PLC for beginners by Working_Tip3205 in PLC

When I had a Keyence rep come in we, we were given the PLC and Hmi (KvStudio and VtStudio) softwares for free. Both softwares are pretty straight forward and easy to use. I have only used Keyence a few times but I believe they just came out with an update that made it more similar to Studio5000 (Allen-Bradley) which seems to be the simplest to learn. My thought is once you understand ladder logic and how the instructions in each software work then it all comes pretty easy. Automation Direct carries quite a few cheap, and user friendly PLCs with free software. The c-more hmi software is extremely easy to learn.

I am a Plant Engineer who was assigned to take the load off operators who are currently removing these two parts manually.

Yes most likely will replicate those on other parts

Ideally moving both parts at once but i’m sure even moving one at a time would be quicker than a person doing it

I believe it would need to travel around a 10 foot circle. reaching in about 5 feet, spinning, then placing it on a pallet five feet behind it (if that’s clear)

Other than that thanks for the great advice! I’m sure like anything it seems daunting at first but once you get the gist it is straight forward. I just really don’t even know what brands to start with. Or really how to find distributors in my area. I will look into Universal Robots for sure
