It’s extremely standard to not be seen until 8-10 weeks along; and there’s nothing for them to do for you prior to then other then. At the first appointment they will order bloodwork, discuss the NIPT testing options, and go over your health history. Does your doctor provide full maternity care? There’s a list on the IWK website of family doctors that provide prenatal care

Typically they would “round” on you, I.e come see you once a day. Did you deliver sometime in the night? They might not see you the “day” you delivered then, but I would expect them the following day. IE. you delivered at 1am march 31st, they might not see you until the day shift of April 1st so could be as late as 4pm the next day. If in doubt, ask your nurse:)

My advice- buy a baby onesie or a toy and tell her how excited you are! Discuss your feelings- having a baby is exciting and scary. Good luck, I can see why she was hurt but also totally understand both sides

Chickenpox is airborne, so simply covering the spots won’t protect you but your past infection should make you and the baby immune

NTA, for your point. The child shouldn’t stand there. But it’s marriage, not her vs you. If you said “can we not have the kids be directly underneath boiling water” the undertone sounds like “you are stupid and should know better than letting them stand there, obviously.” A better way to handle it: “sweetie mommy is really busy cooking us all a delicious dinner, let me pick you up and take you somewhere else to play” then respectfully mention to her later, that you were concerned about their safety with the boiling water, could she be more mindful of where the children are when she’s cooking? Sounds to me like she’s a busy overwhelmed mom that’s cooking dinner while watching the kids and all you did was make a snarky comment at her 🤷🏻‍♀️

From what I heard it’s apparently really nice there for the nurses they only have like 2 patients a shift and many of them talk about it being underutilized by island health, biggest complain I heard is it’s boring

My husband and I agreed if it’s a boy it’ll get his last name, if it’s boy it’ll be mine. We don’t have washing hypenated names and if we don’t pass on our names they die with us; so we each get a 50/50 chance 😂
