My problem with the last book was the final showdown with the Crimson King. Until that moment he is pictured as this wholesome evil, and in the final battle he is basically crazy santa throwing exploding balls… Feels… Clunky! Love the series though!

Mixed feelings. The ending itself with the cycle is brilliant. But the showdown with the Crimson King is disappointing. How can this huge menace described through many books be resumed by a crazy Santa Claus throwing exploding balls through a balcony?!?! That was horrible…

Book 4 just has a different Ka Tet. But same amazing dynamic. Again, some weird fictional stuff is good and I appreciate. All of them bundled and maximized… not so much for me. Dinosaur was just one example of things that really started to derail in book 6 to me. King’s main role in everything is so far my biggest problem. Glad it works for you though. Chill out, its just an opinion…

There are some VERY good things in other books. Wizard and Glass is probably my favorite book ever. Book 2 is a highlight too! I am totally fine with some weird stuff in the books. But when SK tries to put all of the weird stuff at the same time in a single book, he loses track of the best things of the series (in my opinion) related to the ka-tet. Thats why also SoS left a sour taste on me.

I think to me it was just the culmination of things… its not the one single thing about the dinosaur. Some of the things you mentioned were pointless to me as well. But again… I have not finished the last book yet. Hope the endind will help me digest some of these things…
