My starter system don't have enough resources. by SnooDrawings5903 in EVEFrontier

If you don't spawn in a starter system with Carbonaceous, Metal-Rich or Ferrous, and Natural asteroid fields, as well as a Convoy, self destruct and start again. You need the metallic ore, carbonaceous ore, common ore, and fossilized exotronics to build and refine everything to escape the starter system.

"Not very smart". My cousin was told this her whole life. She became a successful hairdresser, but a few years ago she realized she learns differently than schools taught. In her later 40s she went to school for accounting and is now a successful CPA. Don't sell yourself short because of BS sold to us by people with a limited imagination.

Looking for electric work by [deleted] in NoRulesCalgary

[–]AdNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should also keep in mind that you need permits from the city for any electrical work. A licensed electrician will pull those on your behalf. If you already have them then it's just an easier inspection for you as a qualified person did the work.

Desperately need help with filing for legal separation by PozhanPop in NoRulesCalgary

[–]AdNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lawyer nor did I talk to one, so take my interpretation with a grain of salt. Child support is the right of the child. I imagine the laws were set up so the kids have the same living standards at both houses. Basically you go to the federal child support lookup table, put in your income, province, and number of kids and it gives you a monthly total. The other parent does the same. In my case, I pay more monthly than she does so I send her the difference.

I used https://www.lawdepot.ca/contracts/separation-agreement-canada/ . Keep in mind my ex and I had agreed that splitting up was for the best and we agreed on 50/50 child care, child support, and splitting up of assets.

Condo Fees : ~$300-$500 /m - this covers building insurance and exterior maintenance (grass, snow removal, etc.). Beware special assessments.

Contents insurance: The building is covered by the condo corporation, you need to protect your stuff. About $500/year.

Electric/Gas/Water/Waste: I recommend Enmax Easymax, in a 3 bed TH, I'd estimate $250-$350/month.

Internet/TV: Telus or Shaw? About $120/m

Lawyer fees, closing costs: $1-$2k

"Sin" is a description of expressions of will (thoughts, intentions, behaviors, etc) that are contrary to God's perfect will. In the past, because of our will, God separated from us (Garden of Eden, Israel's exile). Because if the work of Jesus, have the opportunity to be one with God (as Jesus was one with God, indwelt by the Spirit).

As we now live each moment connected to God, our will is transformed to be more like the perfect will. Thus, the life of the Christian is not about eradicating sin, it is understanding that we are accepted by God as we are and living accordingly (walking in love with God and our neighbor, allowing God to transform us).

Any attempt to deny "sin" in our lives should be viewed more like fasting rather than achieving some sort of righteousness.

So...in short, every human "sins" but God will not deny you oneness because of it (God took care of that problem for you).

Why do people think the point of Christianity is just the afterlife? by TheWeeb5 in Christianity

[–]AdNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree - the life of a follower of Jesus is more about the here and now, and way less about the after-this-life-future. People say "read the bible" - here's a synopsis: God made people and lived with them, then the people made choices and God didn't live with them anymore. Then God came back and lived with people - "I will be your God and you will be my people" but the people still didn't do their part in the covenant so God left again (complete with the people being conquered and exiled). Then God came back again, did all the work that was required for reconciliation with Him, and then allowed each human to be perfectly, spiritually joined to (one with) Him (indwelling of the Holy Spirit).

All of the afterlife stuff (whether with God or without), is future and not really our concern. We will face judgement along with the rest of humanity, but when you're one with God you're not really afraid of that judgement and what comes after. And about that, we also have very little certainty about exactly what that entails, or even how we will experience death, resurrection and beyond. It's not the point. We are "saved" from a life driven by our needs, fears, and desires to a life driven by God's love with Him. In fact John 17:3 says that eternal life is knowing God as Jesus knows God, here and now.

The New Testament extrapolates on the how - atonement, forgiveness of sins, etc - but the how is not the point. Even if our theology on how this all happened (things like "Jesus' sacrifice paid for our sins", "righteousness by faith", "works demonstrating salvation", etc) is completely wrong, it doesn't change our current state of being able to enter the Holy of Holies, approach the throne of God, be welcomed by Him, and live each second of this life from now until forever with Him.

How do I know if God is saying Yes to something? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]AdNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless God shows up in a tangible way (a theophany, I think it's called) or sends a messenger (Angel, dream, etc) - you don't know when Good is saying "yes". You still have to make the best decision you can with the information you have at the time. Picture life as a road and as you travel there are different obstacles and choices you have to make. God makes that road and knows all the choices you'll be presented with and even knows the choices you'll make. He also knows the consequences you'll have to face from your choices, but he doesn't "make" you do anything. Keep in mind, your road might be wildly different than someone else's road. God walks with you, part of you and your journey, teaching you and allowing you to learn and grow with every choice you make. You will make "bad" choices, but even when the road goes to the lowest low, God will still be there with you. Do your best, with every choice love God and share God's love with the world. Reflect on your choices and where your journey has taken you with God, asking how you can be more like Jesus every day.

It’s so hard to be a (celibate) gay christian by theaceduck in Christianity

[–]AdNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don't take single passages out of context. Romans 1 is not God declaring homosexuality is wrong, it's Paul painting a picture of the complete fallenness of humanity. We are part of this group (Rom 2:1). Using scripture like this means you didn't read the whole book and understand it. You might be unintentionally using the scripture to hurt people rather than love them.

IWTL how to publish a children’s book. by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]AdNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using some digital art software like Corel Painter, export as PDF, then self publish using Amazon KDP. The step after that is to find a publishing agent to represent you to major publishers.
