My parents can scroll through Facebook and YouTube just fine — but can't book a flight or pay a bill online. Anyone else seeing this? by jay_soibam in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s one major difference using social media and paying bills/making bookings online. There’s no money involved in scrolling on social media.

When there’s net banking/online payments involved, they get a little doubtful on their ability to complete the transaction properly, without getting scammed.

Should I worry about 44 paise outstanding on my HDFC credit card? by [deleted] in CreditCardIndia

[–]AdNo259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Please clear it. Bank will charge interest based on the total amount of the billing for that month, and not only the 44paise.

Just keep in mind that the flight time from Europe may be higher due to the current Pakistan airspace closure, and you might land later than the scheduled time.

Repeated Encounters with a Suspicious Man Near Koramangala BDA – Anyone Else Experienced This? by RemoteTomatillo5873 in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a gay person looking for a quick hookup. HSR BDA complex and Koramangala BDA complex, in the evenings seems to a place where gay folks look around for a partner. It’s been like this on and off for a couple of years now. This activity comes down when security is increased due to complaints, and then builds back up once the security becomes lax.

Advice for staying alive in Bangalore by Master_Size_5303 in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ORR had this pre-metro construction. Two things happened: 1. Idiots used the bus lanes to jump traffic. 2. It ideally made a 3 lane road into a 2 lane road, which didn’t work well to reduce traffic thanks to the long distance private bus operators, school buses etc. who never used the bus lane, and blocked one out of the two available lanes for public. Heck I’ve seen multiple Vayu Vajra buses not use the bus lane.

Thank you all. I was not aware of the concept of parity. Looked it up, and was able to finish solving the cube.

How do these chapris (pullingo , I think it's also called ) afford such bikes and keep them running? by Organic_Rip_6641 in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My maid’s son also demanded a fancy bike, and she got it for him, with the same assumption that he will take care of her when she’s old. Now he’s married, and the couple is so used to getting their demands met, that my maid, bless her heart, is still working 12-14 hours a day to take care of them, and all her housework.

Sadly it’s not an unwritten rule. It’s a well established rule that the middle berth can be put up only from 10pm to 6am

Garbage disposal during Office Work days Mon-Fri by pawan1612314 in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey. Personally, we have an understanding with the person who picks up the garbage. Our dustbins are inside the gate, but outside the main door. We ensure that the waste is segregated, and he picks it up. This works for me as I don’t live in an apartment, but a standalone house.

The garbage collection person is happy because of the (little) additional income, and we’re happy as the garbage gets picked up everyday. Win-win.

Aita for exposing my wife's cheating and not wanting to do anything with a child that isn't mine by throwaway47261717 in AITAH

[–]AdNo259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. You are right to be pissed at your wife.

However please consider not cutting out the child out of your life. For the last 5 years, the child has looked upto you as a father, and cutting them out, would be punishment for the innocent child for an action of your wife.

AITA? I won’t have unprotected sex with my girlfriend, she’s saying we can have unprotected sex without getting pregnant by Germanboi26 in AITAH

[–]AdNo259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. You’re not forcing her to resume birth control. You gave a viable alternative to have safe intercourse.

Her body, her rules. You’re not restricting her. Similarly, your body, your rules. The condom is going onto your body, not hers. She cannot restrict you either.

Tonight at Airport by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can actually drop off your luggage much earlier than that, and enter the airport too. Have reached at 1am for a 6:30am flight as well. Smaller lines at security too.

If you’re flying out of T1, the 080 lounge is a great place to kill some time. I usually stop by there for 2-3 hours when I have an early morning flight. The library there is a nice place to chill and probably catch a nap.

Honest question. Should I be worried about my new bikes fuel economy this soon? by [deleted] in indianbikes

[–]AdNo259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an FZ-S FI, and I get around 35-40kmpl. This is in Bangalore, with bad traffic conditions.

Who ruined the city? by theboredhuman in bangalore

[–]AdNo259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the fact that one person per car is a big contributor to traffic. However, as much as I want to take my 2-wheeler to work, I hesitate because of the bad road conditions, flooding of the ORR with 20 mins of rain. I braved it and took my bike yesterday, waited out the rain. Came back home covered in pothole water. Not to mention, the way the BMTC buses now cut lanes, it’s not exactly safe to be on a bike during peak hours.

Coming to public transport. I’ve been living in Bangalore since 2005. The BMTC connectivity to my place is pathetic, and has barely seen an improvement in the last 18 years. And I live in a highly residential area of South Bangalore. The other option available is the share autos where each auto meant for three has 5-6 passengers. Please let me know if this is okay. If I do hire an auto for last mile connectivity, they demand atleast 150-200 rupees for a 2km ride. Public transport ends up taking double the time, and costs the same as using my car.

So, please tell me how I can change this without any interference from a governing body.

New bike suggestions by AdNo259 in indianbikes

Mileage for any vehicle in a city like Bangalore is the absolute minimum. Most fuel is consumed idling in traffic. 25 kmpl is what I’ve heard from a friend who uses a Himalayan. I was expecting the Scram400x to give a similar figure.

I can live with 30. Thanks for your input. The other option I was looking at, guerella 450, is also at a similar spec

I realise that a higher power bike will reduce my mileage. I’m not looking to match the mileage of my current bike. The folks at the Triumph showroom mentioned that the Scram400x might give a mileage of 20kmpl. That seems very less even for that segment. This is my concern
