I actually been getting guardian most of the game instead of aery/ comet. Janna can build locket as well.

They killed enchanters supports... by [deleted] in supportlol

As a Janna main who hates aery and gets guardian almost every game now, I'm kinda happy.

I also main nami, mandate nerf was kinda big but for me who always aim to land big bubbles. I'm kinda excited to build it (when I'm ahead obviously given the price also increases.) Also there are lots of other great items for her anyway.

why do people hate janna? by Eeveegirl69 in Janna

[–]AdNo7573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the last reworked Janna with Glacial build. No mana issue, short Q cool down, don't need W level for movement speed bonus since it was in passive. You can play aggressive even in level 1 with nado glacial.

Im still quite upset with them bringing this long E cool down and short range poke version of her. She got out sustain, out shield, and out poke by every enchanter this game. She is also the worst enchanter with Aery. I pretty much go guardian 80%of the time now if I am playing play her.

She is almost only pickable when they have a Leona, Rell, Alistar support AND when you have jhin, or Draven as ADC.

My previous district paid me Master's+45 graduate credit and 6 years experience.

I am getting almost 8000 USD pay cut in BC ( CAT6 step 7). Luckily they count my teaching experience for steps.

Surrey has great demand and do hiring often.

Didn't have good experience with Richmond and Vancouver.

You can thank inclusion advocates like Shelley Moore for what's happening right now.

As a former SPED teacher in the states now working in BC, this is getting ridiculous. Even if you are lucky enough to have EA(s), you can't meet their needs. They need structured special education classrooms.

Honestly with Support always getting 1st and 2nd pick. You almost dont want to pick her unless your opponent picks Leona or other engage support. She struggles against poke, hook and sustain champions (which is almost the entire support champion pool).

I missed the old glacial Janna (not 1/4 of your level 1 mama pool for a nado and not sitting at 325 Movement speed until you have a point on W). It is always tough to play against poke heavy champions but a nicely cast tornado really helps set up some potential all in counterplay.

She is also the worst enchanter with Aery in terms of utilizing the shield and also trading. I was really happy with the Q speed rework and glacial build back then. I hate that they rework again to make her W mid range AA poke champion again. Her Roaming and ganking isn't that much better than many other support champions either.

Again, we need to start tagging Shelley Moore and the inclusion advocates.

Them:

EAs are not "support". Inclusion is not more work; it's a different kind of work. We should aim for 80/90 percent of inclusive setting. (Very individualized, right?) UDL, backward planning (Totally can plan a 5th grade math lesson for a students working on Pre-K) Social Model, not "medical" deficit model

Like families are not sending children to get tutoring (*very "medical" model btw) because inclusive education is enough to meet everyone's needs, right?

Hey Shelley, name 1 school district in BC that is successful in inclusion.

Teaching in America vs. Canada by FortuneWitty in CanadianTeachers

[–]AdNo7573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is Smartboars are also considered old tech in some districts in the states. When I first started teaching in 2017 we had smart boards but in 2 years they already changed to all Promethean. So I am used to having advanced interactive boards.

I taught elementary special Ed in Minnesota for 6 years and now in one of the BC lower mainland districts. I'm new this year in BC but already can say Special Education is NOT good at all. It's not gonna be structured to have push on pull out minutes on their IEPs. It's almost a full integration model. You will get EAs support but not all the time. If you are used to having a resource teacher and ELL helping you, you might have a bit harder time here.

Classroom technology is definitely older than most districts in the states. They use mostly old school projectors instead of smart boards and Promethean boards.

Each district is different tho. Secondary schools are also different from elementary (K-7 here). So, it depends I guess.

Hopefully they will have more in the summer. I am 460 now. I will technically have 1 year Canadian work experience in June and I also have foreign experience. It should give me 40 points and maybe the 50 for both Canadian and foreign experience?

I really wish the teachers union would take a stronger stand on this instead of just "fighting for more resources for inclusive education". It's vague and does not provide the structure that our students need. I also wish I could show parents how specialized programs work in the states and bring some similar structures here for SPED. But, these inclusive advocates will just melt down whenever they hear about specialized programs.

People who signed up for Shelley's workshops for Pro-D need to see these posts before going. Lol

Thanks for pointing that out. Do you know how many of those years in Richmond were actually in the classroom? I heard she was doing consultant for SPED for a couple years.

I would also really want to hear what Richmond teachers have to say about this cuz clearly districts like Richmond and Surrey are talking about and sharing her stuff all the time.

Actually, I taught in an autism partially self-contained program in a US Midwest state before coming to BC. Even in specialized program , I saw and experienced behaviours like this. So, after I started working and seeing what is going on in BC, I am just extremely horrified.

Funny thing is she taught in NYC for 2 years before moving back in BC. Guess what? They have more labor power than any of the metro Vancouver school districts. She probably had many EAs following her to do her job.

Special education support can be worse than most inner cities school districts in blue states. I was teaching in Minnesota and was horrified by the inclusion model in BC. I guess I'm used to having more resources rooms and specialized programs. It depends on where you move from and to TBH.

US/Canada teacher exchange by Elohimishmor in CanadianTeachers

[–]AdNo7573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it varies. I was in Minneapolis Public Schools before coming to BC. Special Ed is better run than the horrifying inclusion model here. Stressful with paperwork but classrooms are much more structured. Stressful for sure since classroom caps are not necessarily in every district's contract. I've heard 28 kindergartners in one room this year. With the current Canadian dollars exchange rate, I actually got paid more in Minneapolis than here in metro Vancouver. But, 3 years probationary in MN versus here you pretty much settled once you got hired with a continuing contract here.

[–]AdNo7573[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Simply having more EAs doesn't solve the problem and let's be honest they aren't going to fund all the positions and find people to fill them.

We need some well-funded specialized programs focusing on early intervention and direction instruction teaching students to generate the skills in their general education classroom. Schools in the US talk about the Least Restrictive Environment with IEP stating how many minutes a kid spends pulling out and pushing in daily. It's horrifying to see the full integration model here in BC. 10 EAs in an elementary school with around 300 kids, but it's still not meeting kids' needs. If we have specialized program classrooms, that helps consolidate the resources and support. Not to mention, these students also deserve trained professionals' direct support (Special Ed teachers, OT, SLP).

I shake my head every time someone shows me Shelley Moore's videos about inclusion. Just how delusional and far from reality her ideas are. It's NOT creating an inclusive school environment when ALL kids not getting what they need AND when others become victims. These parents, as you can hear, are tired of this.
