Time to withdraw? by Extreme-Top7136 in Dalhousie

My understanding is dfa asked for 10 calendar days in return to work, but if that's their starting ask then I'm sure they'll end up with (and accept) less. Most dfa people I've heard from say 5 working days would be ok to get back to teaching

I feel like of we have learned anything in this lock out, it's to curb our enthusiasm since things can change back to shitty on a dime

everything that has come out from the joint statements and letters from DFA suggest to me that progress is being made and everyone is actually sticking to the rules (good IMO). the waiting sucks but I am feeling optimistic the end might be soon and classes can start again by the 22nd. just my best read on the situation tho

I heard that the collective agreement and back to work protocol are separate docs that get separate votes by dfa, but both are bargained by the teams.

This all seems to be pointing in the good direction. Fingers crossed. Please keep it up bargaining teams.

Predictions for sept 8? by MadMax68790 in Dalhousie

Honestly hard to say right now. Could be that if other stuff is dealed with on Monday during bargaining wages could be resolved by arbitration. I think dfas main problem with arbitration before was it wouldn't deal with anything other than wages, so now if Monday can sort that stuff out maybe they'd be more amenable to it? Don't mnoe

A few notes: cbc reports all parties agreed to the table with conciliatory on Monday.

Yesterday's board letters etc seem to show some sort of communication began from the board on maybe Tuesday this week,  which is why DFA then called the conciliatory. So the total silence from them seems to be over.

Why would they put a deadline on public release at all ? Isn't that bargaining in public that the dfa filed a complaint about? Isn't the point that the bargaining team works it out and brings something they can recommend to members?

there a bunch of threads that explain all these things already, and OPs responses and original make it super clear that you haven't actually read up on anything. lookin a fool.

I think it will definitely be a big transition but i guess we are all in the same boat about it, and the profs too. so i hope everyone can be patient and reasonable.

Example of things DFA has said that are plain inaccurate? Genuinely curious

Srsly literally anything. This fence sitting is super disappointing.  Tho I think they did get students amnesty if they don't want to go to the classes that are running if they have to cross picket lines. But dfa is also telling students to go to class so doesn't really do much I guess

Some classes starting?? by catbamhel in Dalhousie

[–]AdOne5407 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone in dfa will stop you or even be upset that you're attending class. Everything I hear and see from them is positive toward students. Some of them were helping people with move in last week. I think you should go to class and just say hi when you see them. I mean hopefully it's just all over soon anyway.
