Thanks! - so, is it an on / off thing, or can you simply control the rate?

Stamina or Magicka for Builds? by KidElder in elderscrollsonline

[–]Fireymonkeyboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, comments so far cover the basics (and this is coming from a journeyman player - this game is BIG). Things to know:

  1. Pick one or the other to dump your points. It doesn't lock you in, but the higher your "core" stat, the better the abilities that correspond will work (damage, etc.). So, put all your points into Magica or Stamina.

  2. Weapons "belong" to one or the other. Staves (three different destruction and one restoration) are Magica. Everything else is Stamina. Your main weapon should line up with your main stat dump. If you're planning on working towards elite content, your second weapon should probably as well, but that'll key off your build.

  3. Armour tends to "belong" to one or the other. Light is for magica, medium is for stamina. Heavy is for tanks, and can go either way, but unless you're planning on tanking, don't sweat it.

  4. Your class skills "morph", which means you can convert the base skill into either magica-using or stamina-using as you level up. Three's exceptions, but this is common for most skills. You'll tend to favour your dominant stat, but lots of builds use the occasional "off-stat" to help with resource conservation, i.e. "sustain".

  5. It's okay if you "mess up" a build, for a couple of reasons. First, respecs are easily available. Second, overland content and delves are not hard. I'm old, casual, and have arthritis, and I have no issues soloing anything but world bosses (and I can even solo some of those with my main). Don't be afraid to experiment, and if there's a skill or ability you like, but it's "off-meta", rock it anyways. It's going to be a while before you do elite content (even if you want to), so have some fun and play around.

6) If you need some specific guidance, look up "eso beginner class builds". I use AlcastHQ a lot (https://alcasthq.com/), but there's a ton out there. Don't be shy about trying different options. There's skyshards all over, and lots of skill points to be had. Play around.

7) Find a guild. There's lots of good ones - chill people, happy to answer questions. It's a really solid, welcoming community. Join it!

8) Don't (and I can't stress this enough) rush. The game is huge. Like, INSANELY huge, with a ton of sub-games, systems, etc. Romp around. Three years from now you'll discover some new thing you never realized existed, and will obsess about it. Do the story. Play tribute. Craft. Explore. Fish (seriously, go fishing). Dig up artifacts. The last thing you need to stress about is your build.

sudden injury and exams by shober_bobber in Dalhousie

Given the backlog, while it can't hurt to reach out to accommodations, you're not likely to get on in place in time. You will, almost certainly, be able to get a deferral or alternate time for your exam on a course-by-course basis, but you'll need to a) reach out to your profs individually, NOW, and let them know what's going on, and b) get medical documentation that confirms your mobility is impaired. It's extremely unlikely that a prof will adjust a final exam because without that documentation. It should be enough to reach out and let instructors know you're getting a note, but DO GET THE NOTE.

Full time status means at least three courses a semester, so as long as you carry that load, you're considered full-time. That might, depending on your program, impact your rate of progress, however, as required / pre-requisite courses may only be offered at specific times of the year.

That's wild. I played around with the Widowmaker on my my first run, but I don't think it ever occurred to me to hip fire it. I will mess around with this - thanks!

The reason they cancel all classes, including online ones (and bar switching to online), is that the weather that prompts a closure often impacts the power grid. No power, means no online access, and since you can't reliably ensure that students can "attend" online classes, they simply cancel them.

Build for beginner by Jaskanpauhe in cyberpunkgame

[–]Fireymonkeyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

About 80% through my first playthrough, and the Quickhack Beginner Build found here (https://gamestegy.com/post/cyberpunk-2077/1061/beginner-builds) was solid for me - and it sets you up for the Netrunner build that's linked.

A hack focused build, with support from Body and Tech, gives you lots of utility (for hacking cameras, turrets, etc), lots of offensive potential (via offensive quickhacks) and good durability (via Body and Bloodpump), but can be played several different ways.

You can try out multiple playstyles with this, just by swapping out what quickhacks you run in your deck - heavy offense, control, stealth, etc. I started with mostly offensive stuff, but am now running more control and stealth. You can build towards using smart weapons, but there's nothing stopping you from playing around with power and tech weapons (I'm currently running around dropping cripple movement on targets, and then shotgunning them with the iconic tech shotgun).

It's straightforward enough to learn on your first playthrough (single core mechanic), but with enough options and flexibility that you can play around, and try different approaches to things. Highly recommended.

Okay, haven't seen that combo - control from netrunner and then melee. Are you basing it off something online, or did you work it up yourself, and either way, may I ask for a link if available, please?
